Captains' Corner

Thank you Captains for 2025
I would like to congratulate our 2025 School Captains Oscar, Ella, Irene and Gemma.
They have been a dedicated leadership group who consistently demonstrated our school values of being respectful, responsible learners and positive role models for our school community and our Year 6 students.
Throughout the year, they gave up lunchtimes to prepare for assemblies, attended special events, and developed their public speaking skills. They also learned that leadership is not always easy and that good leaders sometimes need to make thoughtful and challenging decisions. We are very proud of the way they have represented our school.
Congratulations to 2026 Captains and Leaders.
I would also like to congratulate our incoming 2026 School Captains: Felix, Jochebed, Sophia and Rosie, as well as all nominated student leaders for 2026. Being selected reflects consistent demonstration of our school values, strong organisation skills, and the confidence to speak in front of an audience.
We look forward to working with you all in 2026.

A Word from our Current School Captains
Oscar
I’m Oscar, the only male school captain in 2025 at GRPS. This year the school captains and I have spent a lot of our time, effort and passion on making the school a better place. Working with the JSCs we made new lunchtime clubs and we raised money to make new things such as the sensory garden and teacher vs. students tag. I must take a second to congratulate our graduating class of 2025, well done for completing a milestone of your schooling and I wish you all the best for high school. You have completed three school productions, multiple colour fun runs, the building of the foundation centre, a sensory garden, the library being made into a classroom, and two different principals. I would like to thank all of the year six’s for giving each other positive feedback and being there for each other. You would not understand what you have done to contribute to all of the students in the school just by smiling or doing a small gesture. Getting the role of school captain was an honor that developed me personally. I would like to thank everybody that made my schooling journey one I will never forget, and I will always look back on. To Mrs Rouda, Mrs Roberts and all of the teachers, I must give you such a big thank you, and I will miss you all. I hope all of the graduates of 2025 have an amazing time in high school, and become responsible, respectful, learners as they head into their high school years. As we all have fun on this amazing night it will be bittersweet because we know that this will be the last celebration we will have. Some day when all of us grow up I hope we find each other so that we could remind each other of the great things we have done. I congratulate you all on this massive achievement and I hope you have a good rest of your evening!
Gemma
Hello everyone, as most of you may know, I'm Gemma, and I have been so honoured to be one of your dedicated school captains this year. This is a bittersweet greeting, knowing that this will be the last time that I address you before we all embark on a new journey of our lives. But with a lot of lasts there comes even more firsts, like moving on to high school, and I thank all the teachers, aids and principals for helping us through all the high and lows during our schooling and setting us up for this nerve racking but also exciting new chapter. Our teachers throughout our education have not only taught us things like maths and English, but also life long skills and have been helping us discover ourselves, our personality and our talents so that in high school we can show that and always be our best selves. So thank you to all the teachers, for impacting our lives in the most positive way and for being our inspiration, our role models and our mentors, so that primary school will never be a forgotten journey, but will always be there to look back on and cherish as a strong foundation of our future. Can we give the teachers a round of applause? Having the honour of Being school captain this year has allowed me to improve my confidence in my speaking and in my self, and I have always stuck to my moral, don’t let perfect get in the way of good enough, which I incorporated in my speech to get this role and I think would be even more relevant now to my fellow classmates going on to high school. So tonight I will leave you with a message that may help you through this new phase. Although you may not be the best or perfect at something, when you have a go and try your best, you should always be proud of yourself because your effort is what's perfect. Thank you everyone, and good luck to all the graduates for High School next year!
Ella
Hi, most of you will know me after these short 7 years but I’m Ella and I have been a proud school captain for this past year. Primary school has been an amazing experience and I am so glad that I got to go through it with all of you, teachers, parents and, most importantly, my incredible classmates. Our whole schooling experience wouldn’t have been possible without Mrs Rouda and Miss Roberts. The other school captains and I would never have made it this far without you. The list of parents, grandparents, older siblings, younger siblings and about a million other people who helped us through our journey would be way too long to read but if that is you then know that we are all so grateful. I can’t speak for everyone but I know that my schooling experience has been nothing but positive. I hope that students in the years to come will have gotten as much out of their schooling as I have out of mine. Thank you so much for everything and before we take our final hurrah, just know that we couldn’t have done it without all of you. Good luck for next year and, for the last time, thank you for listening!
Irene
Hi I’m Irine Joseph, one of the captains and it has been an honour of being a school captain for 2025. For me school captaincy was challenging, for public speaking was not one of my strengths but it was way easier with the help of the other captains, they made my journey a lot better, they helped me when I needed help the most and they made me power through the challenging times. A lot of the captains have been here since prep but I have been here for almost 2 years, and never in those 2 years did I think I would have gotten the role of school captain. I would love to thank all the parents for helping us into getting this role and guiding us through this. Also I would like to thank my parents for telling me to go for this role when I had no hope, I couldn’t have ever done it without them. Thank you to all the parents for helping us with our roles and speeches. We couldn't have done it without you.Lastly I would like to thank Mrs. Rouda and Ms. Robert’s for giving us a chance in this role and guiding us throughout our captaincy. We really enjoyed our captaincy while it lasted. And finally I would like to thank everyone for listening to my last speech as school captain. Thank you.
