In 2026, the wider Church will celebrate the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi, one of Christianity’s most beloved saints. This Jubilee marks eight centuries since Francis’ passing from this life to eternal life on 3 October 1226.
St Francis continues to inspire people across the world through his radical commitment to the Gospel, his love for the poor, his deep reverence for creation, and his call to peace and reconciliation. His life reminds us that true joy is found in simplicity, humility, and trust in God.
Throughout the Jubilee year, we are invited to renew our commitment to Francis’ vision by:
May the life of St Francis encourage us to become instruments of God’s love, hope, and peace in our own time.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

You are warmly invited to join us for Ash Wednesday Mass as we begin the season of Lent together as a community.
Ash Wednesday marks a sacred time of prayer, reflection, and renewal, reminding us of God’s mercy and our call to turn our hearts back to Him. We would love to have you with us as we gather in faith and receive the ashes as a sign of our commitment to the Lenten journey.
