Mathematics

Number & Algebra   I   Measurement & Geometry   I   Statistics & Probability

Understanding, fluency, problem solving and reasoning will be explored and applied across all three areas of maths this term.

In Number students will consolidate their understanding of place value through the creation of multi-step function machines, revising the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and developing reasoning skills to explain their thinking.

In Measurement & Geometry students will learn about angles as measures of turn and investigate the different types of angles. They will revise reading analogue time and transform shapes and objects by sliding, flipping and turning. They will also learn to interpret simple grid maps to show position and pathways.

In Statistics & Probability students will identify events that involve chance and describe outcomes as impossible, unlikely, even chance, likely and certain; and creating and interpreting displays of data using lists, tables and graphs.
