News from the

Junior School

It has been a busy period for the Junior School so far this term, with our Year 8 and 9 students going through the subject selection process for 2024.  It is especially exciting for our Year 9 cohort as they prepare to graduate from Junior School and look towards life as a Senior student.  Our Year 8 students are enthusiastic about taking greater ownership of their education by choosing from a wide variety of subjects that appeal to their interests.  Our Year 7 students are buoyed by the introduction of our enrichment programme, and the choice of new subjects has been well-received by the cohort.

All our sporting teams have represented the college in the right spirits, and they continue to lead to be the perfect example of positive sportsmanship and teamwork. In addition to this outstanding approach to their sporting endeavours, many teams have dominated the competition and look to continue this great work in regional and state finals.

It has been pleasing to see many of our Junior School students participate in many of the clubs we have on offer which have not only been a whole lot of fun and enjoyment, but these clubs have also forged friendships and support that will surely last a lifetime.

The Year 8 cohort were amazing in their participation in Stand Up, which is a 2-session programme facilitated by KidsFirst Australia that is linked to the Respectful Relationships curriculum.  It was great to see our students approach these sessions with great maturity, and the feedback we received from the facilitators was pleasing.  It was also great to see our Year 7 students join Year 8 for a presentation from the Victorian Police Youth Specialist Officer, who covered topics around Cyber Safety.

As our Year 12 students approach graduation and end-of-school celebrations, it is a great time for the Junior School students to reflect on their journeys thus far at Greensborough College and consider where they want to be come Year 12.  It may seem some time away, but we will be celebrating the classes of 2026, 2027 & 2028 before we know it.
