Headstart
Get Ready for 2024!
Congratulations students - next year you're moving into Senior School! To give you the best start possible, our teachers will run the Year 9 to Year 10 Headstart program from Monday 4th - Friday 15th December. The Headstart program has been running since 2008 and its purpose is to prepare students for the next academic year by introducing the learning and assessment requirements. Students will be given tasks that will require some learning from home. For students beginning a Unit 1 & 2 subject, you will need to complete an activity over the holiday break in readiness for 2024.
Attendance is compulsory.
Subject resources and associated learning tasks will be available via the Compass Portal. There will be a year level assembly on Monday 4th December to discuss the program with students.
Year 9 My City Zoo Visit
On the 1st of November, Ms Gucciardo’s Year 9 MyCity Class visited the Melbourne Zoo. The group of students, led by a team of organisers within the class, navigated the bus and tram to make it to the zoo for an afternoon of observing animals.
There was too much to see for all of the small groups wandering the zoo grounds, but some highlights included the active monkeys, attempts to be the first to get the butterflies to land on them, as well as visiting the lemurs who were happy to walk on the path with visitors.
It was a pleasure to join the class for the day and see our College be so well represented by our year 9s, who were excellent ambassadors.

Year 9 My Urban Art
On Wednesday 1st November, students embarked on a self-directed journey into the city to explore the Australian Centre of Moving Image (ACMI), Federation Square and Hosier Lane. Students explore different types of art, including the graffiti in Hosier Lane, and were asked to consider when it is viewed as vandalism or artistic expression.

Dabbling in Dark Matter
Yesterday our Year 9 MySTEAM students faced the limits of human cognitive experience! Delving into the mysterious Dark Matters exhibition at the Melbourne University Science Gallery, students enjoyed a thrilling scavenger hunt through the enigmatic world of dark matter.
The excitement continued as our students were challenged to code drones in various ways, facing different scenarios that pushed their creativity and problem-solving skills to new heights.
We want to extend a huge thank you to Science Gallery Melbourne for providing this incredible opportunity. Your commitment to inspiring young minds and fostering a passion for science is truly commendable.
We can't wait to see where these budding students' scientific journeys take them in the future!
