Safety Notice: Changes to the Church Rd / Doncaster Rd Crossing

The Manningham Council will temporarily cease supervision of the afternoon shift school crossing located on the corner of Doncaster Rd & Church Rd from Monday 27 November 2023. This is due to insufficient staffing levels. The Council have deemed this particular crossing low risk as it has a pedestrian-operated traffic light.

There's a Silver medallist among us!

The Australian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) hosts the Under 15 Youth Championships as a prestigious and highly anticipated event within the weightlifting community. This championship serves as a platform for aspiring young weightlifters under the age of 15 to showcase their talents, dedication, and commitment to the sport.

Held annually, this competition brings together some of the most promising young athletes from various regions across Australia. It provides a competitive yet supportive environment where these rising stars can demonstrate their strength, skill, and technique across different weight categories.

This year's event was held in Western Australia on the 3rd November, and we are overjoyed to report that Year 10 student , Vlad Panoschi, won the silver medal for the Victorian team, lifting a total of 180kg for category M81kg.

To compete in the AWF requires rigorous training and preparation, as well as support from family to help these young athletes achieve their personal best. What an incredible achievement, Vlad!

It's In The Bag

Thank you to the DSC community!

The year 11 Vocational Major class, CareNet and Share the Dignity are incredibly grateful for your generosity. During our collection drives, we have managed to collect over 30 bags of products for It’s in the bag and many boxes of non- perishable items for CareNet.

Thanks to your generous donations we have ensured families in need, women, girls, those who are waking up in a domestic violence refuge or homeless shelters feel a little bit of love and hope.

CareNet provides food relief through a number of innovative programs within the community. They work to ensure nutritious, desirable food is easily accessible for everyone, CareNet is helping over 100 families in need using our donations.

WE’VE GOT YOUR BACK Program

DSC continues to develop and maintain strong relations within the school community. The 'We've Got Your Back' program is a perfect example of the school reaching out to students who require assistance and help with textbooks, uniforms, shoes, and food hampers.

We rely on donated resources to ensure this program works. We greatly appreciate everyone’s help in improving student wellbeing.

Please keep in mind if your child has finished secondary college or going up another year level and you no longer require the old textbooks and stationary, consider donating the items to the school so we can use them in the Welfare library.

Donations can be made at the front office and will then be sent to the school Welfare Library.

Lead to Sustain

Our dedicated students from the DSC Environmental Club recently had the opportunity to attend the Lead to Sustain conference. This program, organized by the Manningham council, brings together primary and secondary schools in our area to focus on sustainability, and we are immensely proud of our students for taking part in this.

Our Environmental Club worked tirelessly to design, prepare and run four engaging 45-minute sessions, with a special focus on recycling, for primary school students in grades 3 and 4.

By accepting a leadership role and challenging themselves, our Environmental Club members have not only grown as individuals but have also been instrumental in supporting primary school students as they gain knowledge and skills. Together, they've shown how our actions, no matter how small, can make a significant impact on our environment.

A Night At the Museum

Never one to back away from a challenge, our Year 7 SEAL class have taken the study of ancient history to a whole new level.

Their recent endeavours have focused on understanding the significance of artefacts as vital evidence of ancient civilisations. By delving deep into the past, these inquisitive young minds have created truly incredible replicas of well-known artefacts. We applaud their commitment and unwavering passion for learning ancient history.
