Wise words with...

Mr Nathan Asher, Head of Secondary

As the end of the school term approaches, we find ourselves immersed in a bittersweet moment - a moment that encapsulates both the excitement of accomplishment and the sadness of farewells. The term ‘finish’ takes on a profound meaning as our Year 12 students prepare to conclude their formal schooling journey and step into the wider world of possibilities. For some students, NCS has been the only school they have ever known!

We (and they) are excited for the future, but are sad to say goodbye.

While their journey of education at NCS reaches its conclusion, their journey of life is only just beginning. Year 12 students, now armed with knowledge, skills, and a sense of purpose, are poised to make their mark on the world. Some may venture into higher education, while others might explore careers, travel, or pursue other passions. It would be great to remember them in prayer, not just for the HSC exams ahead, but for what the future will hold. Pray that God will direct their path, that there will be opportunities for them to bless others and also give thanks to God for each and every one of our students and their families.

In the book of Ecclesiastes, we find wisdom that resonates with this moment: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). This reminds us that the journey of life is marked by different seasons, and as our Year 12 students prepare to finish this chapter of their lives, they step into a new season filled with fresh opportunities and challenges. I look forward to hearing about adventures, successes and the learning opportunities that they will experience.

There are a few key moments ahead for our Year 12 students. In week 9, they will have their last lessons, take on the Staff in a game of Basketball, prepare a Staff Morning Tea, have their Graduation Dinner, and also enjoy a last excursion to partake in some water-based activities. It would be great to have our school community join us on the last day of term - 22 September, at 9 am in the MPC as we celebrate the achievements of the graduating class of 2023, with our Graduation Assembly. All are welcome, with morning tea provided afterwards.

We look forward to celebrating as a school community.

I just want to finish with the words from Melissa Kruger in her book ‘Wherever You Go, I Want You to Know’.

I pray you love Jesus with all of your heart.

Whatever you do, that's the right place to start.

He made you. He loves you.

He's good kind and true.

Jesus brings joy, whatever you do. He died for your sin.

He makes all things new. You can trust in his words - they're faithful and true.

Walk with him, talk with him, day after day.

Follow King Jesus, the life truth and way.

We love you so much, we want you to know.

We’re cheering you on wherever you go.

And whatever you do, wherever you start,

We pray you love Jesus, with all of your heart
