Principal's Report

Asteroid hitting earth's atmosphere - 2022

Dear St John's Community,

Welcome back to Term 4, it's been a whirlwind this week with everything going on across the school, most particularly in the senior levels.  We've had students attending the swimming program all week, others at Division Athletics and then today we had the Girls AFL Lightning Premiership. We had some fantastic results from the students who attended Division Athletics which Mr O will outline soon and today I was very proud of our senior girls who won all 7 of their AFL games and came overall Bayside Division AFL Girls winners! The comradery and support they showed for each other, the umpires and the opposition teams on the field today was exemplary. Well done girls!!!

As mentioned, we had a large number of students who reached the division athletics day this week which is a big achievement in itself as over 80 schools are represented at this level and only the top 1,2 in each event goes through to Regionals.

Here are some of the great results achieved on the day:

Meia - Shot put - 4th

Grace - Triple jump - 4th

Olivia M - High jump - 4th

Alex J - Triple jump - 4th

Matiu H - Shot put - 4th

Lily H - Triple jump - 4th

George F - Shot put - 3rd

9/10 Boys relay team - 4th (Bobby, George, Liam, Cooper)

12/12 Boys relay team - 5th (Nick C, Paguer, Jonathan, Connor F)

12/13 Girls relay team - 4th (Ivy, Tia, Isabelle O, Meia)

Individual Track

Nick C - 100m - 2nd / 200m - 1st

Bobby - 100m - 2nd / 200m - 2nd

Roxie - 1500m - 2nd

Congratulations to all the students who earned a place on the day and to those going on to Regionals later this term.

On another happy note, Ms Funtusof and her husband Blake had a beautiful baby girl over the holidays. Mum and new baby Delilah are home and doing well. Congratulations!

Prayer

We remember our Grade 6 Confirmation Candidates as they prepare for this sacrament.

God of all ages,

You send out your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people,

Look kindly on our candidates for Confirmation as they seek to hear your voice.

As they begin their preparation, we pray that you send your Spirit to enlighten, guide, strengthen, console, and open their hearts as they continue to seek a closer relationship with you.

Help them to truly know the deep and abiding love you have for each of them and fill them with the joy of your presence.

As our community prepares these children for Confirmation, make us an instrument of your love,

Teach us to recognise what is holy in others and to be patient with what we do not understand.

Deepen our faith and help us to pass it on by our example.

We pray that you continue to guide, sustain and teach us the Way of Love.

We give you praise through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Shhh...it's finally happening! By popular request. November 3rd - be ready to run!!! More details coming soon!

Uniform changes 2024

For those who missed it last time!

Agreement has been reached in adding an option for a St John's Beanie, a spray jacket (lightweight raincoat) and a heavier softshell jacket. These will not replace anything, they will just be available for those people who want them.

We've also agreed to remove the idea of a summer/winter uniform/sports uniform and simplified it to School Uniform / Sports Uniform. There are no 'changes' to the uniform beyond making the items above available to purchase.

This is what the structure will look like for 2024:
