A Word From Leadership

Loud Shirt Day tomorrow

On Friday 20th October (tomorrow!), Good Shepherd will be celebrating 'Loud Shirt Day'. This is an initiative from Can: Do4Kids and your support will provide children with hearing loss the resources they need to connect, communicate and thrive. We have students at our school (above) who are impacted by hearing loss and we would love to support them through this fundraiser.

The school community is encouraged to bring along a gold coin donation and wear a LOUD SHIRT - the brighter and more patterned, the better! Students should wear their sport shorts/pants and school sneakers with their loud shirt.

Student Voice

A priority for our current strategic plan is to increase student voice.  How this looks is different in each learning space and area of the school.  I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate some of the current ways that student voice is used through out the school.

Students taking ownership and choosing where to work in the classroom to complete tasks.

Students directing the way that they present their learning in a way that is meaningful to them. Students presenting ideas for clubs and play activities during lunch times.

Last year the students helped to design the upper primary playground.

This week Archer and Yafet (Stage 4 Students) attended a conference about student voice in learning and what that means for schools in 2030.

As part of my commitment to improving our practise in hearing student voice  I will be meeting with some classes over the coming months to find out more from the students - the core reason for our being a school.

Before and After School Reminder

As we start a new term, here is a friendly reminder for the use of our school premises before and after school hours.

Before school: Students and families may access the school grounds starting at 8:15 am. Please refrain from arriving earlier unless your child is enrolled in the Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program.

After school: The Hard Play and Middle Primary playground areas are reserved exclusively for OSHC participants. Families are encouraged to utilise the oval and Junior Primary playground while providing adult supervision until 4:15 pm.

If you have siblings of students in after-school sports activities, please ensure their supervision on the oval or Junior Primary playground.
