TERM 3 WRAP UP
T3 2023
I want to take this opportunity to thank the community for their ongoing support of our school. As a member of staff, I have now been involved in our school since 2011. I had a number of chats on Sports Day with past students, long standing families as well as new families to our school community who spoke so highly of our inclusive school community, our committed staff and positive community spirit.
Days like Sports Day certainly put a school on show. I couldn’t have been more proud of our students and their demonstration of our School Values throughout the day. This was captured in the beautiful speeches by our winning Captains and Vice Captains at the conclusion of the day. Congratulations to the Blue team who won their first Sports Day in a long time with 1033 points. Red came second with 955 points, Green 3rd with 901 points and Yellow 4th with 857 points. It was great to see so many families getting into the spirit of the day. Thank you to Mrs Martin and Miss Lillis for their organisation of the day.
We have had several exciting events this term including our community Book Week Parade that was so well supported by our families, our author visit with Phil Cummins, the School Disco, Bully No Way day, SAPSASA Athletics and Sports Day. We have finished off the term with our Colour Fun Run which has raised funds for our courtyard upgrade. Look out for the courtyard plans throughout next term. This will be another exciting redevelopment for our school. Thank you to Mrs Kemp and our Governing Council for another successful event.
Important dates to remember including:
We congratulate our IT SSO Nick Allen and his partner Odette on the safe arrival of their son Harvey. Harvey was born on August 15th. Nick has taken to fatherhood like a champion and is rightly as proud as can be. Congratulations Nick and Odette.
We welcome back Mrs Natalie Jolley to our Year 3/4 class after taking Long Service Leave for most of Term 3. She has spent quality time with her family travelling throughout Queensland and New South Wales. We thank Miss Demi Ross for teaching our Year 3/4 class in Natalie’s absence and for her continued contribution to our school. Demi will still be a familiar face around the school as she continues in Mrs Dealtry’s Year 4/5 class on Fridays for the remainder of the year.
Thank you to Mrs Leanne Zizikos for covering Mr Drew Grieve while he was Acting Wellbeing Leader for the last 4 weeks of this term. We will certainly continue to see Leanne around the school as one of our regular Hackham East relief teachers.
We welcome back Ms Sally after her holiday to the USA and Mexico. Ms Sally works tirelessly to lead our school community. We look forward to having her back in Term 4 after her well deserved Long Service Leave.
Thank you to the students, staff, and school community for your support over the past 4 weeks. I have really enjoyed my small stint as Principal for this short period of time.
Have a restful and safe October holidays before we hit the ground running for a busy term 4.
