Intervention, Pathways & Disability Inclusion

A big thank you to all students, families and staff for their engagement and participation in our recent subject selection process. We appreciate the time and effort that went into the many conversations, pathway discussions and decision making that supported students in making informed choices for their future.
We are now seeking feedback on the recent process to help us reflect on what worked well and identify opportunities for improvement. Your feedback will help us ensure that future subject selection processes are clear, accessible and supportive for students, families and staff, while continuing to effectively support students in planning their future pathways. Despite the busy final Term for Year 12’s, School Leaders have been working very hard to solidify our legacies and make an impact before leaving to start a new stage in their lives. Committed to contributing to the community and encouraging a dynamic school environment, they are striving towards uniting students with a range of activities and events.
They began this term enthusiastically by celebrating Annabelle Caruso's Legacy Project: the 'Positivity Wall.' By creating a collage of posters designed by students at the college, the project promotes optimism and positivity to improve students wellbeing. The 'Positivity Wall' also contributes to their house points system. For every poster submitted and approved by the captaincy team, the student will earn house points.
This helps students to be encouraged to design their own poster sharing good news, creating a friendly competition between houses while simultaneously fostering positivity at Epping Secondary. Hopefully by the end of the term, the wall will display a wide range of different good news submitted by a diverse range of students. When we look back at the wall, our college members will be reminded of the beauty in our world despite any obstacles that stand in our way!
Further strengthening our commitment to the community, we are raising awareness and funds for Breast Cancer through a 'Wear it Pink' Fundraiser on Friday 21st August.
All profits of this event go to the National Breast Cancer Fundraiser to support people across Australia with the disease to seek the medical treatment they deserve.
To celebrate this fundraiser and encourage excitement, beyond an out of school uniform dress day, we welcomed our students to the Library at Lunchtime to participate in a range of activities, from playing some Just Dance, to grabbing a pic in our photobooth.
We appreciate everyone who donated and contributed to the cause, your generosity does not go unnoticed. The School Leaders also deeply thank Mr Contarin and Ms Kanidiadis for their support organising this event, Ms Mesquita and the Crafts Club for their beautiful decorations, and all the students who helped us set up.
Our jam-packed House Week will have activities that aim to excite and celebrate our school community, promoting unity and inclusion in our school!
House Week has become a tradition at Epping Secondary College, marking the last week of each term, where recognition points are doubled to encourage positive contributions to school, and motivate competitiveness in our Lunchtime events.
With the success of last term’s House Week World Cup, we decided to take it a step further with an exciting week to look forward to-
- Monday, we kick off the week with an exciting Sports Knockout tournament, where students can choose from a variety of sports to battle it out to the finale.
- Tuesday, we take it up a notch with some Minute to Win It Minigame activities, putting our students on the spot to win recognition points!
- Wednesday, School Leaders will collaborate with Game Club for a video game competition.
We conclude House Week on Thursday, with the house that donated the most money on Wear it Pink Day and in the VM’s Food Drive combined, enjoying a sausage sizzle to celebrate.
Thank to our house captains, Annabelle, Pavel, Ian and Ayden for their dedication and amazing house assemblies!
With less than 70 days until the English Exam, the pressure is on for us year 12’s, but to promote positive mental wellbeing and support each other, we have been routinely dedicated to organising diverse, engaging fortnightly Monday Funday activities. Every fortnight, we host Monday Funday activities in the N Building at Lunchtime, to solidify positive relationships and have fun away from the stress of year 12. This week, we hosted a game of Bingo, with Ana taking away the winning prize! We appreciate the students who consistently participate on Monday Funday, especially when their competitive side starts to show!
