Positive Climate for Learning.

It has been wonderful to welcome our students back for Term 3. After a well-deserved break, students have returned with renewed energy, enthusiasm and a clear focus on making the most of the opportunities ahead.
The beginning of a new term is always an important time to reset, reconnect and refocus. Our classrooms have been busy as students have returned to their learning with purpose.
Term 3 provides an important opportunity for students to build on the foundations established earlier in the year, set new goals and continue developing their skills and confidence.
We encourage all students to approach this term with a growth mindset — to be willing to ask questions, embrace challenges, learn from mistakes and take responsibility for their progress.
Regular attendance is essential for learning, connection and progress. Being at school each day ensures students don’t miss valuable learning opportunities and helps them stay on track.
Just as importantly, being on time to every class matters. Arriving promptly means students are ready to learn from the beginning of the lesson and demonstrates respect for their teachers, classmates and their own learning.
For example, if a student attends 4 out of 5 days every week, that is only 80% attendance — meaning they could miss around 20 days of learning in a semester. And if a student attends just 2 out of 5 days, their attendance drops to 40% — meaning they could miss around 60 days of learning in a semester.
We encourage you to look at your child’s attendance on Compass and know that year level teams are working to make contact with families for students who are late or missing sessions each week.
Some of our highlights so far have been city experiences and Year 9 Romeo and Juliet incursion; Science Week activities as well as NAIDOC lunchtime activities.
There have been some smaller groups of students heading out for Tech Career Expo and a visit to the Islamic museum. We have many students participating in Games club, interschool sports and student focus groups, providing valuable insight and student voice.
It has been great to see so many students getting involved in activities across our campus this semester. We have been encouraging students to demonstrate our values of respect, resilience and care in the way they interact with one another and contribute to our school community.
This is acknowledged through our house points and different year levels are rewarding students that are demonstrating our values consistently every day.
Please continue to look out for emails recognising how students are meeting expectations daily. House week is coming up at the end of the term, and we look forward to celebrating the house with the most points as they earn a BBQ lunch!
