ANZAC Day

On Friday 24th April, Sunbury College held its annual ANZAC Day assembly. ANZAC Day is an important occasion for Australians, providing an opportunity to remember and honour the servicemen and women who have served and sacrificed for our country, while also reflecting on the values of courage, mateship, and resilience.
Student leaders took great responsibility in preparing and delivering the ceremony, with the Music Captains: Fletcher Allen, Julian Zeegers and Lily Wakeling, organising and managing the sound equipment to ensure the event ran smoothly.
Student leaders demonstrated outstanding public speaking skills throughout the assembly, confidently addressing students across all year levels. For several students, this was their first time delivering a speech in front of such a large audience, and they approached the challenge with courage and professionalism.
A particularly special contribution came from two student leaders, April Lorraine and Julian Zeegers, who researched local soldiers who served in World War I and used their findings to write and present their own original speeches. Their thoughtful reflections helped create a personal connection to the significance of ANZAC Day and showed genuine care for honouring those who served and sacrificed for future generations.
Overall, the ceremony was a great success and showcased the commitment and initiative of our students in commemorating an important occasion.
