Fruits of the Spirit: Kindness

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." — Ephesians 4: 32

Have you ever had a day where everything seemed to go wrong — and then someone did something small, like saved you a seat, helped pick up your dropped books, or simply smiled at you in the hallway? Suddenly, the whole day felt a little lighter.

That's the power of kindness.

In Ephesians 4:32, Paul doesn't ask us to do something complicated. He simply calls us to be kind and compassionate - and to forgive others the way God has forgiven us. It sounds easy, but if we're honest, kindness can be one of the hardest fruits to grow. It costs us something: our pride, our time, our comfort.

True kindness isn't just being polite when it's convenient. It's choosing to see the person sitting alone at lunch. It's speaking up for someone being left out. It's offering a second chance to a friend who got it wrong - because we remember that God offers us the same.

This week's challenge: Look for one person each day who might need a small act of kindness. It doesn't have to be grand. A kind word, a genuine compliment, a helping hand - these are the seeds of something beautiful.

When we choose kindness, we reflect the heart of God to the people around us.

Dear God,

Lord, help us to see others the way You see them - with compassion and grace. Grow the fruit of kindness in our hearts this week, and use us to make someone's day brighter.

Amen.

Blessings!
