Birranga Sports

Girls Netball

Our 2 Netball teams showed great resilience, determination and sportsmanship at Casey Stadium. Although we didn’t come away with the win, the girls proudly represented Birranga College against six different schools throughout the day. The teams encouraged one another, worked hard in every game and continued to show positive attitudes on and off the court. Their teamwork, effort and respectful behaviour towards other schools reflected the values of our college. We are incredibly proud of the way the students represented Birranga College throughout the competition.

We would like to congratulate our very first Cross Country Team for proudly representing the Birranga College at their first interschool competition. The day began beautifully, with the morning sun shining brightly, before the weather quickly changed just in time for our student's races. Despite the heavy rain, all students showed incredible perseverance, resilience, and determination by completing their events with great effort and sportsmanship. We are also excited to celebrate some of our students who achieved placing positions and will now progress to represent our school at the next level of competition. Congratulations to Charmy (7A), Adelaide(7F), Lincoln (7B) and Ibrahim (7C). Well done to all students involved — we are extremely proud of your effort, courage, and team spirit!

Congratulations to Adelaide, Linc, Charmy & Ibrahim for their recent participation and representation as a Birranga College student in the Southern Metropolitan Region Cross Country at Hastings Foreshore Reserve on Tuesday 9th June. The afternoon presented itself with sunshine but a strong headwind in the first part of the 3km circuit for our students, none the less they gave their best on the day and represented themselves and the College in the best way possible. These four students finished in the middle of about 60 students in each race – and the competition was very tough with students from all over southern Melbourne schools participating. They should be very proud of themselves. A big shout out to Mr Tavita for his work in giving these students this opportunity.

Year 7 Interschool Soccer – Casey Fields

On Tuesday 16 June, our Year 7 boys' and girls' soccer teams travelled to Casey Fields for a day of interschool competition, and both teams represented Birranga College brilliantly, showing the College values of Belong, Believe and Become throughout the day. The boys played three matches, finishing with one win and two losses. Ibrahim was the standout for the team, showing great versatility and flexibility across the field and putting in a strong defensive performance. The girls played four matches, finishing with two wins and two losses. Humaira led the team superbly as captain, guiding the girls through warm-up and team lineups, and was a constant source of encouragement for her teammates throughout the day. Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic effort — Well done!

Badminton Team Success

Our school badminton teams recently represented the school with pride, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and perseverance throughout the competition.

The boys' team performed exceptionally well, finishing in second place after a series of strong performances against tough opposition. The girls' teams also competed brilliantly and were unlucky to miss out on a placing, with several matches decided by only a few points.

All students displayed excellent team spirit, supported one another throughout the day and showed resilience when faced with challenging matches. Their positive attitude, determination and commitment to representing the school were a credit to themselves and our school community.

Congratulations to all students involved on a fantastic effort.
