Risen Christ – Easter Reflection

As a school, we journeyed deeply through Holy Week, taking time to pause, reflect and enter into the story of Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection. It is a story we know well, but each year it invites us to see it with fresh eyes and open hearts.

We finished our Holy Week remembrance with the powerful message of Rise Up – Roll the Rock Away. This simple phrase captures the heart of Easter. The stone was rolled away from the tomb, not just to show that Jesus had risen, but to remind us that nothing can hold back hope, light or new life.

Easter is a celebration of the Risen Christ – a reminder that even in moments of darkness, there is always the promise of renewal. It calls us to be people who “roll away the stones” in our own lives: to move past fear, to show kindness, to forgive, and to bring hope to others.

You may notice that our prayer table in the foyer has now changed to white and gold. These colours reflect the joy and celebration of the Easter season. The symbol of the rock being rolled away from the tomb is a visible reminder of what took place on that first Easter morning and what continues to happen in our lives today.

As we move through this Easter season, may we carry this message with us: to rise up in faith, to roll away what holds us back, and to live as people of hope, joy and new life.

Catholic Education Week – Seek Peace & Pursue It

Next week, beginning May 4, we celebrate Catholic Education Week, a special time to reflect on the gift of Catholic education and the role it plays in shaping our young people.

This year’s theme, Seek Peace & Pursue It, invites us to be intentional in the way we live, learn and interact with one another. Peace is not something that simply happens, it is something we actively choose, nurture and work towards each day in our classrooms, on the playground and within our community.

You may notice peace lilies placed throughout our learning spaces and in the office. These are a simple but powerful symbol of the theme. The peace lily reminds us of calm, hope and new life, encouraging us to create environments where students feel safe, valued and supported to flourish.

Catholic Education has a rich and proud history, both across Australia and here at St Patrick’s. Built on the mission of the Church, Catholic schools were established to provide not only strong academic foundations, but also to nurture faith, values and a deep sense of community. At St Patrick’s, this story is closely connected to the work of the Brigidine Sisters, whose dedication to education, faith and service helped shape the strong foundations of our school community. Their commitment to nurturing each child and fostering a spirit of compassion and justice continues to influence who we are today.

Catholic Education is about more than learning, it is about forming the whole person. It is about developing young people who show kindness, seek justice, act with compassion and strive to make a positive difference in the world.

As we celebrate Catholic Education Week, we give thanks for those who have built and sustained our school community over time, including the legacy of the Brigidine Sisters, and for the opportunity we have each day to live out our faith in action.

May we continue to seek peace and pursue it in all that we do.

Catholic Education Week – Step Inside St Patrick's

We look forward to celebrating Catholic Education Week, guided by this year’s theme, "Seek Peace and Pursue It".

As part of our celebrations, we warmly invite families to join us for Open Classrooms on Wednesday 6th May from 10–11am. This is a wonderful opportunity to step inside our learning spaces, see classrooms in action, and experience the calm, focused environment our students engage in each day.

Families are welcome to move freely around the school, spending time in classrooms, listening to learning, and then continuing on to other areas. Following this, you are invited to stay and enjoy lunch on the school grounds with your child. Please bring your own lunch and take the opportunity to share in a relaxed time together.

Throughout the week, we will also be celebrating with music during break times and other activities across the school.

We look forward to welcoming you into our classrooms and celebrating Catholic Education Week together.
