Mother's Day Reflection

Mother’s Day offers an opportunity for us to pause and give thanks for the mothers, grandmothers and mother figures who play such an important role in the lives of our children and families. Through their care and encouragement, they help shape the values, confidence and sense of belonging that allow young people to flourish.

As a Catholic community, we are reminded of the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd, the one who walks alongside others with compassion and care. In many ways, mothers and mother figures embody these same qualities each day. They nurture, protect and support those entrusted to them, often placing the needs of others before their own. Their presence in the lives of children is a reminder of the deep love that sits at the heart of family and community.

We acknowledge that Mother’s Day can bring a range of emotions for different members of our community. For some, it is a joyful celebration, while for others it may carry sadness, grief or longing. At St Peter’s, we hold all families in our thoughts and prayers during this time and give thanks for the many people who provide love, guidance and support in the lives of our students. May this Mother’s Day be an opportunity to celebrate the gift of those who care for others so generously and to reflect on the importance of love and kindness in our lives.

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms

and carries them close to his heart;

he gently leads those that have young.”

- Isaiah 40:11

Positive Partnership

As part of our Strategic Plan, we have committed to fostering positive partnerships across our school community. This goal reflects our belief that respectful and collaborative relationships between staff, parents, students and the wider community, are essential in creating a learning environment where every individual feels valued and connected. Each member of the St Peter’s community plays a vital role in supporting not only academic growth, but also the social, emotional and spiritual development of every child. When we partner effectively we create the conditions for every child to flourish, and for every member of our community to feel a sense of belonging.

Each policy  grounded in our shared commitment to respect the dignity of each person and reflect the values embedded within our Catholic identity. Policies are consistent across all MACS schools, and they are updated as required in accordance with legislative and regulatory changes and community expectations. They are designed to support the learning, wellbeing and growth of every member of our community, ensuring that our school remains a place where respect, kindness, gratitude and hope are lived each day.

We are currently updating a number of policies on our school website and these will be available soon. Over the course of the year we will be sharing various policies and highlighting important sections that are particularly relevant for families and students. Please read through these communications as it is central to our ability to partner together and share in the educational journey of students at St Peter's.
