Assistant Principals' Report

This week, staff participated in a professional learning session focused on Writing Moderation. Moderation is an important process where teachers work collaboratively to review student work samples and discuss achievement against the Victorian Curriculum. The purpose of moderation is to build consistency in teacher judgement across the school. By engaging in professional dialogue and comparing evidence of student learning, teachers develop a shared understanding of what achievement standards look like at different levels.
During the session, staff analysed a range of writing samples, identified strengths and next steps, and discussed how to apply curriculum expectations consistently across year levels. The inclusion of our pre-service teachers provided an authentic opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of assessment practices, moderation processes and the importance of evidence-based teacher judgement. Staff modelled professional collaboration and shared insights on how moderation supports both student growth and teacher practice.
Professional learning, such as moderation, plays an important role in improving teaching and learning outcomes. It ensures we maintain high expectations for all students, continue to build a shared, consistent approach to assessment across the school, and support the development of the next generation of teachers.

Semester Reports will be available via Compass from Wednesday, 24th June 2026.
Please note that Semester Reports will look slightly different this year due to the current industrial action undertaken by the Australian Education Union (AEU). As part of this industrial action, reports will not include Learner Comments or Work Habits.
Despite these changes, reports will continue to provide families with valuable information regarding student achievement and progress against the Victorian Curriculum.
We value ongoing communication between home and school and are committed to partnering with families to support student learning. There will be opportunities to discuss your child’s progress further during the Student-Led Conferences later in Term 3. Families are also welcome to contact their child’s teacher at any time to arrange a meeting to discuss their child’s learning in more detail.
This week marks National Volunteer Week, an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution volunteers make within our school community. From supporting classroom programs and excursions to assisting at special events and fundraising activities, our parent and community volunteers play an important role in enriching our students' opportunities and strengthening connections across the school.
National Volunteer Week also serves as a timely reminder for parents and carers who are interested in volunteering at school to complete the Parent Volunteer Training process. To volunteer in classrooms, all parents/carers must complete the specific school training, which is now more closely aligned with expectations, child safety, and OHS. Thank you to those who have already completed this training.
The updated training guide is available on the School Website HERE
Once you have read the guide, complete the Google Form at the end of the presentation. Please note: all questions and checkboxes must be completed to volunteer, and you must also have a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
