To all our Truganina P-9 families, welcome back to the 2025 school year! On behalf of our Truganina College team, I extend a very warm welcome to our new families reading this newsletter for the first time. I trust that everyone had a wonderful holiday break with some valuable family time and relaxation.

Our Truganina College staff and community have already hit the ground running with two Curriculum Days for 2025. During our first day, we identified the key learning priorities for the year ahead outlined in our NEW Strategic Plan 2024-2028 and dedicated time in our teams learning about the revised Victorian Teaching and Learning model 2.0, unpacking the new Victorian Curriculum 2.0, and utilising the valuable tools provided by Positive Classroom Management System (PCMS) that explicitly teaches expected behaviours.

Our second day included a presentation by guest speaker Amy Green outlining how to support staff wellbeing. Setting off the year focusing on these topics, creates an environment that prioritises growth, development, and success for all our students and staff. We look forward to sharing our 2025 annual goals and plan once endorsed by our School Council later this term at the Annual Report to community on Monday 24th March 5.00pm in the College Library.

Supporting our staff to support your child’s learning

Whilst Truganina College primarily supports the learning needs of all students, we also provide a rigorous professional and academic learning environment for our staff to ensure that they are the best educators for your child. These additional Student Free Curriculum and Professional Practice Days have been allocated for our 2025 Truganina College Professional Learning Calendar and were endorsed by the Truganina College School Council last year. Please add these dates to your diary. Our NEW Out of Hours School Care provider-OHSC- Team Kids will be able to provide childcare on these dates:

Knowing what is happening in your child’s class and in our College - Truganina College communications is grounded in our values of respect, resilience, responsibility, and being ready to learn. These values not only set the tone for a positive and nurturing school environment but also emphasise the significance of being well-informed and engaged with school-related information and your child’s learning.

Compass is the platform that informs parents and carers of upcoming events, payments and school reporting. Our teachers and staff also use Compass to communicate with you about your child's attendance and to send home positive messages. Please contact our office if you wish to connect with your child's teacher. Our teachers are always keen to discuss their students and will call you back when not teaching.

Truganina College School Council - Now receiving nominations

Truganina College provides many opportunities for parents and carers to actively participate in their child's education and contribute to the overall success of the school community.

Joining the Truganina College School Council highlights another opportunity for those who wish to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of the school. Being a member of the Truganina College School Council provides parents and carers with the opportunity to play a direct role in shaping the school's future. This involvement extends to contributing to, setting, and monitoring the school's direction, as outlined in the strategic plan and annual implementation plan.

Being a school councillor involves a commitment to attending school council and subcommittee meetings. This collaborative approach involving parents and carers ensures that the school community's perspectives and insights are considered in decision-making processes.

These various avenues for involvement not only strengthen the partnership between home and school but also contribute to the vibrant and supportive community at Truganina College.
