Message from the Principal Team
Week 9 Term 4 2024
Dear CNPS Families,
This week I wanted to discuss gratitude. As a community we have a lot to be thankful for, the beautiful tree lined streets that border CNPS, the amazing heritage buildings that students, staff and community get to enjoy, and of course, each other. As we near the end of another school year, I always enjoy participating in conversations where students, staff and parents/carers acknowledge each other for their work throughout the academic year. With that, a reminder that Tuesday 10 December 2024 is Carlton North Primary School’s opportunity to thank parents/carers with a special morning tea. The celebration will be held in the Library commencing at 11am. On behalf of Carlton North Primary School, thank you to all parents/carers for your dedication and commitment to CNPS in 2024.
Transition Days
Transition into the next year of schooling is an exciting and sometimes challenging experience for students. Next Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 December 2024 students from Foundation to Year 5 will move into their new classes for 2025. (Our Year 6 students who are transitioning to a government school for 2025, will be attending the State Wide Transition Day at their future high schools). Majority of students will get to meet their teacher/s for next year. During these sessions students will have the opportunity to view their new learning space, complete activities and ask questions about the year of learning that lies ahead. Thank you to all staff for assisting with the transition program.
Swimming Program
The Foundation to Year 4 swimming program concluded last Friday 29 November 2024. Congratulations to all students for participating in the program and improving your water safety knowledge and skills. A big thank you to all parents/carers who supported the program by walking with classes to and from Carlton Baths. Can I also please acknowledge the teachers, particularly Chris and Ben for being up at the pool for the sessions. Today, Thursday 5 December 2024 our Year 5/6 students engaged in their water safety program learning about important water safety rules and regulations that apply to all beaches around Australia. Year 5/6 also had surfing lessons held at the wave pool at UrbnSurf in Tullamarine.
Summer Soiree
What a series of performances! Last Wednesday 27 November 2024 the Summer Soiree took place at CNPS, with students demonstrating their skills across an array of instruments. A big congratulations to Rachel Snedden and her team of teacher musicians for organising a wonderful music event. Can I please also acknowledge the CNPS team for assisting with the setting up for this event.
Year 5/6 Big Day Out
Last Friday 29 November 2024 our Year 5/6 students participated in their ‘Big Day Out’ for 2024. Students had a special day of community celebration by walking up to the Nova cinema on Lygon Street and enjoying a movie – Wild Robot. After the movie, students returned to school for a BBQ lunch prepared by the Year 5/6 teaching team. A big shout out to ‘head chef’ Kara who took control of the BBQ. Thank you to all students for your excellent behaviour and demonstrating the CNPS values.
Foundation Zoo Excursion
On Monday 2 December 2024 the Foundation cohort headed across to Melbourne Zoo to continue their learning journey on living things. The weather was perfect and the excited students, teachers and parents/carers boarded the buses to head to the zoo. According to reports from students and teachers the animals were in good spirits and accessible for students to view. A big thank you to the Foundation teaching team for your organisation of the excursion and again can we please acknowledge the parents/carers who volunteer their time to attend excursions and events.
Please reach out to Jane, Erin or I should you have any questions or require support.
Warm Regards,
Matthew Ferguson
Acting Principal
