Gratitude in the 5/6 Learning Space
We have had a fabulous start to the year in the 5/6 learning space. We have been focusing on Gratitude with our students and have completed several activities related to this. Within our classroom we have created a Gratitude Tree that we will be referring to through out the year. We also read a class story about a giving tree and students individually reflected on what they can be grateful for. Students completed a gratitude leaf and a statement outlining three things they are grateful for and this was displayed on our class tree.
Here are three things some 5/6 students are grateful for:
I am grateful for family and friends
A roof over my head
A meal to eat every night
- Jack B
I am grateful for my family, especially my Mum and Dad
For having a new house
For having friends
- Olivia
I am grateful for having a family that loves me
For having friends who care about me
For having good health
- Ivy H
I am grateful for my family
For my education
For having food
- Harriet
I am grateful for having a roof over my head
For my Parents

- Maisie T

As a way for students to get to know each other, they also completed a Hoodie about themselves. Students listed their dream destination to visit, favourite sport, hobbies, age and many other interesting facts and discussed these with their classmates. They than coloured and displayed these Hoodies around the classroom.
Here are some interesting facts about several 5/6 students:
Hi my name is Summer. In 5/6, we designed some very cool hoodies. My hoodie had my favourite movie which is called 'Wicked'. A country that I want to go to is the USA, and my favorite sport is Basketball. I am in Year 6 and the activity was very very very very fun.
In 5/6 we created a hoodie that is all about us like your names, favourite subject, where you would love to go and where you were born.
On my hoodie I wrote that my name is Evie and my dream place to go is California. My favourite fruit is cantalope. I loved working on these hoodies they were so much fun and it was an easy way to learn about people. - Evie N
Hi, my name is Maggie. In week 1 of grade 5/6 we drew and coloured an all about me hoodie. On my hoodie it said Italy in the section for my dream destination. We also did a family crest where it had 4 sections and in those 4 sections we had to put 4 things that are important to your family. I did collingwood, Italy, travelling and netball.
Hi, I'm Zara B. In Week 1 of 5/6 we drew and coloured a hoodie that noted everything that we like and what we enjoy doing to help us get to know each other and make everyone feel like they belong.
Hi! My name is Zara H, on the first day of school we started colouring these 'All about me!' hoodies, with questions about us in each section of the hoodie. For example there was a question about your dream holiday and I said Berlin because I'm fascinated about the history and the amazing tourist attractions.
