End of Year
End of Year Celebrations and Acknowledgments - Inclusion
Across the year, we conducted a number of Student Support Group meetings with classroom teachers and families celebrating the achievements students who are supported with an Individual Education Plans. These plans set goals for the students with a focus on their Literacy and Numeracy skills as well as their social skills. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the families who have attended these meetings across the year, either in person, via a phone conversation or via WEBEX.
As we continue our transition from a PSD (Program for Students with Disabilities) to a Disability Inclusion (DI) school, we conducted 2 Disability Inclusion Profile meetings for students in term 4. These profile meetings involved the family of the student, the classroom teacher, Education Support staff, an external facilitator and myself. The profile meetings were an opportunity to share what the student is able to engage in here at school with the relevant adjustments and supports in place for them. The outcome of these profile meetings will be known early in 2025 and will help the school to continue to support the students in their learning journey.
As part of the work we are involved with, with the Psychs in School program, we have had Hayley Giniunas working with us during the second semester and she has engaged with families and students across the school. We thank Hayley for her work and wish her well in her future endeavours. For Semester 1, 2025, we will welcome Mikalya Jones, who will be here continuing the work as part of the Psychs in Schools Program.
Across Term 4, we ran our Kinder to Foundation Transition Program for our 2025 Foundation students and I would like to acknowledge the work that goes into planning and implementing our Transition programs. We also met with the Secondary Schools where our Year 6 students will be attending in 2025.
We have an amazing process that supports our students throughout the school, a carefully planned and implemented program for the Kinder to Foundation transition as well as providing the Secondary school with a wealth of information for our Year 6 -7 transitions.
Thank you to everyone that is involved in the transition program across the school. It takes many people to run such an amazing and successful program for the students.
A final celebration is our Breakfast Club. We run Breakfast club 4 days a week every school week and we receive donations of food and cereal to support us with this program. We have a dedicated team that manage Breakfast Club, set things up every morning, cook the toast, serve the cereal and then wash and dry the dishes. Across the year we have had a huge number of students access the Breakfast Club - A GRAND TOTAL OF 6003 students across the year!
Some students attend every day and there are others who attend 2-3 times a week and then we have some students who may have attended 1-2 times a term. That’s a huge amount of toast, butter, jam and honey that has been served across the year.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the students across the year in some way to ensure that their learning journey is supported, engaging and successful.
Moving into 2025, we will welcome Ashwini Mana Mohan to the Disability Inclusion role.
Thank you to all the families for their understanding and support this year.
Kind Regards,
Sharon Rogers😊
