House Futsal

After a hard-fought season, we had a clear winner in the House Futsal Competition. Kambara (green) and Tanaranga (yellow), went head-to-head in the bronze medal match, in which the Kehoe’s (consisting of Annie, Tom and Max) dominated. Some key misses from Aris put pressure on Nayt Merriman’s Goalkeeping. Meanwhile, Mason Kusanke went on to assist Tanaranga with a goal, but this was not enough to seal the deal, with Kambara defeating Tanaranga 6 – 2.

The Grand Final happened to coincide with Year 11 Camp, which may have been Mr Webb's intention... With futsal star, Noah Scofield of Wandarra (blue), away, it afforded an opportunity to defeat Wandarra, who hadn’t lost a game all season due to Noah’s goal scoring ability and his enthusiasm for getting his teammates involved. This left Taltarni (red) in with a chance. Tristian took the role as Gaffer to implement his coaching tactics, meaning Taltarni were rearing and ready to go for a Grand Final face off.

Harry Welsh led Wandarra, with young guns Jonah Burrill and Blake Beaton assisting. Taltarni got off to a great start, scoring the first goal, but Jonah Burrill of Wandarra scored a half-court shot while a distracted Dillan Wade as Goalkeeper, wasn't paying attention. This resulted in a one-all match before halftime.

After the break, both teams showed off their firepower, with Tom Grant scoring for Taltarni and Harry adding to the tally for Wandarra. Izzy Cahill supplied some great passes in the midfield, allowing more opportunities for Wandarra to score, resulting in two further goals. Meanwhile, Maddi Wade’s determination was not recognised by her Taltarni teammates, with fingers being pointed by the Gaffer, at the strikers, who just couldn’t convert. This resulted in Wandarra being crowned the 2024 House Futsal Champions. Congratulations to all teams for their competitive spirit and making the tournament fun, and to Wandarra for achieving the ultimate success.
