What an incredible start to school the Preps have had! They should be so proud of the independence they are already showing. We are impressed with how quickly students are following SMPS routines. Well done Preps!
The Year 1 students have had a great start to the year! Starting from Year 1, students can choose to play at the park as well as the forecourt during recess and lunch. In the 'Learning To Learn' phase, we practised walking safely to the park and understanding the boundaries. We were very impressed by the students ability to follow teacher directions. It was lovely to see them smiling and playing games together.
Our Year 2 students have enjoyed their start to the school year. During the 'Learning to Learn' phase, they have recapped their understanding of our Big 10 Essential Habits, started a new program called SRA and created connections with their class members. All of this has been done with a bright smile and enthusiastic attitude.
The smiles and beautiful manners used by the Year 3 students have brightened up Level 3 every day. During 'Learning to Learn', students have been busy building positive relationships with their new teacher and classmates. They have developed their understanding of the Big 10 Essential Habits, learnt about our new learning programs in Year 3 and practised important routines to help them be organised and focused on learning. They are such keen learners and even broke into a whole class applause when we let me know we were going to do our STAR Reading test! They are well on their way to success in Year 3!
It has been an incredible start to the year for our new Year 4s who have returned to school with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. They have eagerly refreshed their understanding of the Big 10 and are demonstrating these habits in and out of the classroom. As the older students on the level, the Year 4s are setting a wonderful example for the new Prep students with their routines and procedures. Another big milestone has been walking up the stairs independently, which they have done with confidence and pride! The teachers are incredibly proud of how well the Year 4s have settled in and can't wait to see all they achieve this year!
The Year 5 students have had a fantastic start to the year. During the 'Learning to Learn' phase, students have been revising the Big 10 Essential Habits, classroom routines, getting to know their classmates and teachers, and much more! They have enjoyed creating posters and participating in team building games. It has been wonderful creating connections with students across the cohort. The Year 5 teachers are very excited for the year ahead!
Year 6 students have hugely impressed their teachers in a very smooth start to the year. We are loving learning in the ‘penthouse’ up on Level 5. Students displayed a strong understanding of the school’s routines and procedures and the Big 10 Essential Habits during our Learning to Learn phase. We are so excited to kick off our curriculum learning next week! Many students have shared they are especially excited to begin our novel study on The Wizard of Oz.
