Exploring the Universe: Year 8 Astronomy Incursion
This term Year 8 students had the opportunity to explore the Universe through an astronomy Incursion. The highlight of the day was a visit from the mobile planetarium, a giant inflatable dome that transported students into the night sky. Inside, they explored the stars, planets, and constellations, gaining knowledge of celestial phenomena.
In addition to the planetarium experience, students participated in hands-on activities, including the ever-popular Oreo Moon Phases activity. Using Oreo cookies, they recreated the different phases of the moon, helping them understand how the moon's position relative to Earth causes its changing appearance.
The incursion provided a fun and educational experience and hopefully inspired students to look up to the night sky with curiosity.
