From the Principal
Dear BMGS Community,
As we close another fantastic year at BMGS, I reflect on the many achievements, challenges, and moments of joy that have defined our time together. Our community has continued to grow and thrive, united by a shared vision for learning, excellence, and care.
Christmas is upon us, often marked by celebration, connection, and joy. For many, it is a season of laughter, family, and gratitude, yet we are also mindful that this time of year can bring challenges for others. Whether this season is one of joy or difficulty for you, please know that I will pray for peace, hope, and restoration for each of you this Christmas.
The conclusion of a school year is a time for reflection, and I encourage you all to embrace this opportunity to recharge, spend time with loved ones, and consider the personal growth and achievements of the past year. It has been an honour to witness the courage and brilliance of our students, our staff’s dedication, and our families’ steadfast support. Together, we continue to shape BMGS into a school that values everyone and embraces opportunities for innovation and excellence.
As we close the year, I would also like to address the recent conversations about our Japanese program, which have been a focus of reflection and extensive engagement. At BMGS, as in schools nationwide, elective subjects must be well-supported by student interest and participation. After revisiting the subject lines, budgets, and teacher load, we have decided to stay with our original decision.
Mrs. Yukie Evans’ work has enriched us. Yukie’s dedication has brought profound cultural richness to our school, and we are immensely grateful for her contributions. Her efforts have deepened our appreciation for Japanese culture and strengthened our community. We are thankful for her 14 years with us.
It is important to note that this decision will not diminish our commitment to fostering a strong connection with Japan. We intend to continue and further develop our relationship with Nagoya, ensuring that our students remain connected to the cultural and educational opportunities this partnership provides. Plans are already underway for 2025.
At this time of the year, I am reminded of the profound hope and promise captured in the words of Isaiah 9:6:
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
This verse, so central to the celebration of Christmas, speaks to the heart of our faith and the hope we carry into every season of life. In the birth of Jesus, we are reminded that God’s love is not distant or abstract but deeply personal and present. The child born in Bethlehem is not just a symbol of hope but captures God’s promise to bring light into darkness, peace into chaos, and hope to all who trust Him.
As you gather with loved ones or reflect quietly in this season, may you find comfort in the knowledge that Christ’s arrival is a gift for all of us. Whether this Christmas is a time of joy or struggle, His love remains constant, and His peace is freely given.
I pray for each of you that the Prince of Peace will reign in your hearts, bringing hope, rest, and renewal as we prepare to enter a new year. May His light guide you and His love surround you, now and always.
Merry Christmas and God bless.
Wishing you all a safe and blessed holiday season.
Warm regards,
Steven Coote
