Great Southern Griffins Basketball Update – Round 5

We are now into Round 5 of the season and our Griffins teams continue to show fantastic progress, teamwork and plenty of fun both on and off the court.

Gym Usage

A reminder for all teams training in the GSG gym: the gym doors will remain locked until 3.30pm to allow our cleaners to prepare the space safely and thoroughly.

Please use this time to enjoy afternoon tea, get changed into your sports clothes and get organised for training.

Players should only enter the gym with their coaches and only after 3.30pm.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep the training environment clean and safe for everyone.

U14 Boys – Clippers

Outstanding teamwork in a fast-paced game delivered a 40–35 win for the U14 Clippers last week, with every player getting on the scoreboard. Flynn led the way with an impressive 21 points, supported by exceptional, unselfish play across the entire team.

A special mention goes to our cool and composed assistant coach, Sophia McKinnon, who also plays for the U16 Mercury and continues to be a wonderful role model for the boys.

U16 Boys – Lightning

The Griffins Lightning U16 Division 1 team faced Denmark Senior High School in a thrilling, hard-fought game on Tuesday night. Denmark held a narrow 21–20 lead at halftime, setting the stage for a tense and competitive second half.

With just seconds remaining on the clock, the boys battled through timeouts, pressure moments and a fast-paced finish, never once giving up. Although the final score ended 38–35 in Denmark’s favour, the Griffins displayed outstanding teamwork, resilience and determination right to the final buzzer.

Well done, boys, an excellent effort and fantastic sportsmanship all round!

U12 Girls – Heat

One of the things we love most at Griffins is being a home for everyone and nothing shows this better than our third U12 girls team, made up of players from six different schools!

Over the past few weeks, these girls have been building skills, forming new friendships and learning how to work together as a team; core values we celebrate, especially for those stepping onto the basketball court for the very first time.

While the scoreboard has not always been in their favour, their effort, energy and enthusiasm have never faded.

And then… last Saturday happened: a fantastic 26–18 win! It is never just about the result, but the joy on their faces was a true moment of pride.

Griffins Merchandise and Uniforms

Players can order the Griffins training gear and supporter merchandise from the Griffins site Shop - Great Southern Griffins. A range of hoodies, tops, pants and accessories are available to buy. There are limited stocks of hoodies, but more will be added at the end of the month.
