Secondary School

Possum Place
Last week, a number of our Secondary students took part in the Backyard Possum Encounter play at the Albany Entertainment Centre. It was a fantastic performance, with countless hours of effort invested in rehearsals, set design, and staging. A heartfelt thank you goes to all the staff and students involved, as well as those who came along to support the event.
Music Review
Another wonderful celebration of the arts at GSG was the Music Review on Wednesday evening. Students from Years Eight, Nine and Ten who study Contemporary Music as an elective worked hard in preparation for the concert and it was lovely to see so many parents and GSG staff in attendance. The standard of performance was outstanding, with the audience treated to classic rock and roll and pop favourites.
Years Eleven and Twelve – End of Year
This week marked the final examinations for both Year Eleven and Twelve students. Our Year Twelve students completed their last assessments and departed, while Year Eleven students finished their exams on Wednesday. To conclude the week, the Year Eleven cohort is attending camp at Camp Kennedy, providing an opportunity to come together, reflect, and plan how they will lead the school in 2026. There is a wonderful energy among the group, with fresh ideas already emerging for the year ahead.
Upcoming Interschool Athletics
Next week, our students will compete in the Interschool Athletics Carnival, and the team is eager to perform. We wish them the very best of luck and extend a special thank you to Mr Nathan Symonds and the Sports Department for their dedication in preparing the athletes.
Year Group Camps in 2026
Families will have recently received information about year group camps scheduled for 2026, most of which will take place in Term One. Please ensure all required forms are completed and dates are marked in your diaries. Camps are a cornerstone of the GSG experience, creating lasting memories and often standing out as some of the most impactful moments in our students’ school journeys.
I wish all families a wonderful week ahead. Please do not hesitate to share any feedback that will help strengthen our community and enhance the experience for our students and families.

Final Music Review for 2025
On Wednesday night, we held the final Music Review for 2025, showcasing the stars of the future from Years Eight to Ten. More than 40 students performed to a packed audience in the Pratten Centre foyer. Remarkably, over half of the performers had only been working together for 15 weeks before presenting a slick, 60‑minute show filled with great music.
Pizza was shared, tunes were enjoyed and the students cheered and encouraged one another in a truly supportive atmosphere. It was a wonderful night of community and celebration. Congratulations to all the students involved and thank you to the parents, families and friends who came along and made such an enthusiastic audience.
Ms Emma Luxton | Director of Music
End of Year School Device Returns
For students enrolled in Year Ten and Year Twelve in 2026, we will be completing device returns and issuing upgraded Surface Laptops in the coming weeks. Year Eleven students will exchange devices on 24 November, 2025 and Year Nines on 8 December, 2025.
The selected device is well-suited to the age and learning needs of students and is consistent with the model rolled out to Year Nine and Year Eleven students in 2025. It offers improved battery life, enhanced processing power and a larger display.
If any issues arise with devices over the end-of-year break, the IT team will be available for support. Please email support@gsg.wa.edu.au or visit the IT staff in the Library.
