Help us bring Parkrun to Kyabram
The Breen Avenue Walking Track Parkrun course submission has been approved by global HQ!
Parkrun is for everyone - walkers, runners, prams, little legs and paws. It's family friendly and for all capabilities.
Our next step is organising our team of volunteers!
We need:
● Run Director x 4
● 12 additional volunteers
If you are keen to volunteer at least once every four weeks as either a Run Director or general volunteer, please email Larissa Sherman: larissa@shermancivil.com.au If you already have a parkrun ID, please provide that too, if not then you can sign up for a parkrun account at https://www.parkrun.com.au/register/
Visit the Parkrun webpage to learn more about the possible volunteer roles you can help with. You are welcome to change the role that you volunteer in at any time and you won't be made to perform the same role every time you volunteer with us, although we do need core Run Directors who are happy to commit to a rotating schedule.

Victorian Outdoor Adventure Programs for 14-17 year olds
Wollangarra - https://wollangarra.org/
Wollangarra is a not-for-profit outdoor education centre unlike any other. Nestled on a remote river flat in the stunning Macalister River Gorge, Victoria, we offer young people a rare opportunity to step away from modern distractions and into a world of hands-on learning, community, and adventure. Founded in 1988 by Ian Stapleton, Wollangarra was built on the belief that young people thrive when given the chance to connect with the land and contribute meaningfully. There’s no road in—everyone arrives by flying fox over the Macalister River, marking the start of an experience that is simple, challenging, and deeply rewarding.
Mittagundi - https://www.mittagundi.org.au/
Welcome to Mittagundi, an outdoor education centre and working farm established with the belief that young people, mountains, purposeful work and challenges are natural partners. Situated on a 520 acre property near the old gold mining town of Glen Valley, on the Upper Mitta Mitta River, north of Omeo, Mittagundi is a home away from home for more than 500 young people each year. The main purpose of Mittagundi is to provide programs for young people (age 14 to 17) to explore Victoria’s high country and themselves. They spend time bush walking, camping, abseiling from nearby cliffs, rafting the Mitta Mitta River and helping to run a farm. The atmosphere at Mittagundi is simple, honest and happy. There are no watches, no timetables and no devices. Instead there is an opportunity for young people to live and work together in an environment where people matter more than anything else.

The Big Summer Read begins on 1st December!
Kids, keep reading BIG this summer!
The BIG Summer Read supports every young person (0–18) on their reading journey. Whether they’re building confidence to read independently or already love getting stuck into a good book, everyone can join the fun and read at a pace that suits them. And it’s free to participate!
Children and teens can log their reading online at ReadBooks or offline, pick up a paper log at your local library and record books read or reading days.
Parents and caregivers: Keep reading aloud to your young people during the BIG Summer Read — it all counts towards the challenge and is a great way to build a love of reading.
The BIG Summer Read runs from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026.
Here’s how it works:
Register online or pick up a paper log/bookmark at your local library
Track your reading — record the number of books you read or the number of days.
Online participants are entered automatically. Paper participants must submit their completed reading log to their local library by Monday 9th February.
Winners will be announced later in February 2026
It’s free to join! So grab a book and start reading this summer.
