Year 11 2026 Orientation

Monday 1 December 

Orientation workshops for Year 11 in 2026 will take place in the afternoon on Monday 1 December for current and new students. Timetabled classes will run as normal until 12pm. Orientation workshops will include information on IB Diploma, TCE and VET pathways as well as sessions on wellbeing, academic integrity and service. Orientation will conclude at 2.30pm. 

Dance Showcase

Friday 28 November -  5.30pm at The Farrall Centre

The Senior School Dance Showcase is on Friday 28 November in The Farrall Centre. The show starts at 5.30pm and runs for approximately 1 hour. This event is a showcase of the routines the Years 9-12 students have choreographed throughout the year and features some Middle School numbers. It promises to be an entertaining evening of dance. There is no charge.

Final Week Service and Community Activities

Monday 8 - Thursday 11 December

 

Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 December

Year 10 will be participating in a number of off-campus community service activities. Details and arrangements for these can be found in the communication shared with parents between 7-19 November. Students choosing not to take part in these activities are not required to be on campus for Monday and Tuesday of this week. 

 

Wednesday 10 December

Years 9 and 10 students will take part in a Community Day to celebrate the year’s work. This will involve creativity, service and action activities in Tutor Groups, including the Amazing Race and the Friendly Cup. Students should wear their sports uniforms on this day. 

 

Thursday 11 December

This is the final day of Term. Students will spend the morning with their Tutor and House groups before attending the final Assembly in The Farrall Centre at 10.45am. Following this, students will walk to the Bell Street grounds for a BBQ lunch and games. Sports uniform should be worn on this day. Students will be dismissed from Bell Street at 3pm on this day. 

 

We hope and expect all of our students will finish the school year with a sense of focus, engagement and momentum. We look forward to celebrating the final moments of the academic year with students in a way which is sensible, inclusive and mindful of obligations to uphold the learning environment. 

Scheduled Student Password Changes

To maintain the security of accounts and raise awareness of security practices for students, mandatory password changes have been undertaken for Years 9 and 10 and will be scheduled for other year groups.

 

Students should not reuse their school password for any other services and can reset their school password at any time using the Self Service application on their laptop, or by visiting the Service Desk for assistance

ABC radio 7-12 Choir 

Thursday 11 December

Friends’ Years 7-12 Choir students will be singing live on ABC radio again this year, on Thursday 11 December. We hope that you are able to tune in to the 9:30am Broadcast. You can also listen at a later time by heading to the ABC Radio HOBART website and selecting the ListenBack link on the toolbar.

Years 9/10 Music Twilight Concert

Thursday 4 December

Please join us in Hodgkin Hall at 6.00pm for a great concert celebrating the collaboration and musicianship of our Years 9/10 Music classes as they share an eclectic mix of music genres. Entry is free and all are welcome.

Computer Arrangements - Year 10

Year 10 students may keep their laptops over the summer holiday in preparation for the beginning of Year 11. 

 

If they are leaving the school, they must return your laptop and charger by Wednesday 10 December.  If they are leaving prior to Wednesday 10 December, along with letting the Senior School Office know, you are required to return your laptop to the IT Helpdesk in the Library. 

Computer Arrangements - Year 9

All Year 9 students are required to return their laptops and charger before the end of the year. Computer hand backs will take place on Tuesday 9 December in their afternoon classes.  

 

If students are leaving early, along with letting the Senior School Office know, they are required to return your laptop to the IT Helpdesk in the Library.

2026 Instrument/Vocal Tuition Enrolment

Private instrument and vocal tuition will be available at The Friends’ School again in 2026 for students from Years 3-12. A link to allow you to enrol your children in this program will be available in the first week of December.

Absentees

If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Senior School Office (phone: 6210 2255, or email: seniorschooloffice@friends.tas.edu.au). We appreciate your support in this process.
