Here are a few photos of artwork that the different grades have made over the past few weeks.
We learnt about Pablo Picasso’s abstract portraits and we made some collages of our own. We recognised that not all the art he made was as world famous as his most expensive artwork, called The Women of Algiers, but we had fun guessing how much it had sold for. An eye watering $179.4 million!
The preps made a mosaic of an apple, they used their maths language and the practised their cutting skills:
The grade 1&2s worked on Fish is Fish, making sure that the scales of the fish were folded in the same direction:
The grade 5 students thoroughly enjoyed making clay tiles in the style of Mairi Stone.
They used sharp wooden sticks to mimic her intricate patterns. As you can see, many students followed their own designs and some students preferred alternativer shapes. The results are stunning:
