Junior School

The 2025 school year in the Junior School was packed with excitement, learning, and growth for Year 7 and Year 8 students.

For Year 7, a highlight was the adventure to Camp Weekaway. The camp was full of team-building activities and outdoor challenges, giving students a chance to bond and make lasting friendships while navigating everything from ropes courses to night hikes. It was a perfect way to kickstart the year and helped consolidate new relationships in a fun, supportive environment.

Throughout the year, Year 7 and 8 students participated in our highly effective Junior School Alternate Program Days, which covered a range of valuable topics. In Term 1, we celebrated Harmony Day, where students developed intercultural understanding and appreciation for diversity. Term 2 focused on building positive relationships, highlighting the importance of respect and kindness through a special theatre performance that was then unpacked during Managing Me in the following week. In Term 3, students dove into Careers and Pathways exploration, with Year 7 and 8s completing Career Action Plans and selecting subjects for the coming year. Term 4’s focus shifted to Online Safety, with Year 7s participating in Day for Daniel, emphasising child safety, especially online, while Year 8s engaged in exploring the changes to social media and how to have a healthy life online. As the second year of running these Alternate Program Days, the Junior School Leadership Team is thankful for the effort and participation of all.

Our Year Level Coordinators have done an outstanding job helping each year level embrace the learning routines and behaviours to create a positive climate that maximises learning growth. This included things like structured entry and exit routines, development of behaviours aligned with the school values, celebration of student success at assemblies, and student leadership and agency opportunities. All these efforts, supported by teaching and support staff, improve students' Personal and Social Capabilities.

Junior School Leadership would like to thank the Principal Team, Wellbeing Team, Inclusion, Library, and Property and Maintenance Teams for their ongoing care and support of Junior School Students.

Stories open, worlds unfold,

Through every tale both new and old. Poems sing and novels speak,

You've shown us language strong yet meek.

Grammar guides and essays grow, from your teaching, skills will show.

Metaphors shine, similes gleam, you helped us chase the writer's dream.

Words can dance, and thoughts take flight, you taught us how to write with might. So as the holidays draw near, I thank you for this learning year.
