 - Miss Kristen Waldron

I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you're as excited as we are about the positive start to the school year. It's been a bustling two weeks filled with enriching experiences and opportunities for our students to grow, learn, and engage.

Student Engagement and Mental Health Awareness

Our Year 9 and 11 boys had a unique and invaluable opportunity to collaborate with Man Cave, an upstream mental health organisation. This partnership not only provided them with important insights into mental health but also fostered a sense of empathy and community support among our students.

Empowering Girls

Meanwhile, our Year 9 and 11 girls delved into vital topics such as cyber safety, consent, and self-defense. These workshops were designed to equip our young women with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the complexities of the digital world and to develop a strong sense of self-empowerment and identity.

Sports and Co-curricular Activities

Our sports and co-curricular programme is back in full swing, with rowing and cricket already well underway. It's fantastic to see our students actively participating and honing their skills both on and off the field.

Upcoming School Events

We have some exciting events ahead, including the much-anticipated House Swimming Carnival next Tuesday, where our students will showcase their swimming prowess and team spirit. Additionally, we look forward to celebrating our students' academic achievements at the upcoming Scholars' Assembly on Monday.

Special Experiences for Year Levels

Our Year 12 students embarked on a memorable three-day retreat at Deakin University, marking the beginning of a transformative year ahead. Meanwhile, our Year 7s had an exhilarating orientation day, complete with a high ropes course that certainly challenged many.

Celebrating Student Engagement

We are incredibly proud of all our students for their enthusiasm and willingness to make the most of the diverse learning opportunities presented to them. Curiosity in learning is vital and we look forward to seeing their continued achievements throughout the year.

Parent Welcome Drinks

Finally, I hope to see many parents/guardians at the Welcome Drinks this Friday.  It begins at 6pm on the lawns in front of the Tower Building.  This is always a fantastic start to the school year for the College community.  (Remember, it is an adult-only function.)

LOCKERS

All students should have a lock for their locker. New students have been issued new locks, and returning students should have them from previous years. Students must put valuables in a locked locker as we cannot always guarantee that items are secure if kept in an unlocked locker or in school bags in the locker rooms.
