Junior Soccer Superstars!
During Term 4, the Prep - Grade 2 students engaged in a four-week soccer program here at CPS. Having received a Sporting Schools grant of $3,000, we wanted our junior students to benefit this term, so we booked specialised soccer coaches through Football Australia to come to our school grounds and provide each class with four one-hour long sessions of specialised coaching during their scheduled PE lessons.
Our Prep - Grade 2 students focused on developing skills such as dribbling, juggling, and passing and huge progress was evident by the final week of coaching. They used their newly developed skills to play in a ‘World Cup’ tournament for their final session and displayed their fantastic new skills with great confidence. They had an absolute blast!
Well done to our junior students for their enthusiastic participation and huge efforts throughout the program. 🙂
Grade 3/4 Soccer Gala
On Friday December 1st, our grade 3/4 students travelled to Fawkner Park, South Yarra, to compete in the annual Southport District 3/4 Soccer Gala Day. Our students were divided into eight mixed teams and each team competed against four different teams from other schools, such as South Yarra, St. Kilda, Toorak, Armadale and Windsor. Every one of our CPS teams had so much fun participating, socialising with students from other schools and each team managed to bag themselves some huge wins on the day. There were little to no losses and I think this is a testament to their dedication and motivation to improve their skills during their PE lessons and Friday sport sessions. A hugely successful day was had for everyone involved, and I couldn’t have been prouder of our 3/4 students. Not only did they represent themselves with utmost pride and respect in their CPS colours, but they showcased their advanced skills and knowledge of soccer and had an absolutely great day out!
Well done to our grade 3/4 students on a fantastic day of sport!! 🙂

Congratulations on Year 6s’ achievement in Japanese!
In Term 4, our Year 6 students took the ‘Achievement of Languages Competence’ assessments in Japanese, which are designed for secondary students in Australia. The rank distribution below compares with scores obtained by all secondary students who took the ALC (relevant level) in 2019. Each Year 6 student was assigned to a Listening test and a Reading test of their level.
