 Mrs Josie Crisara

What a great start to the year. Our new Preps commenced this week and have settled in beautifully.  The remainder of the student cohort has commenced their daily routines.  The College grounds are looking beautiful, works have commenced on our new Prep-2 building and MRPV continues works on Mickleham Road and our entrance.  Our Year 12 class of 2024 commenced with a learning conference with a focus on the end goal and their wellbeing.

Let’s Innovate

Our school theme this year is ‘Let’s Innovate' and is linked to our strategy plan which you can find on the website.  In a rapidly changing world, the ability to innovate has become a key skill for future success. Fostering innovation in our students is essential. Innovation is not just about technology or groundbreaking inventions. It is about fostering a mindset that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability. In the ever-evolving landscape of the 21st century, our students need to be equipped with the skills to navigate uncertainty and find solutions to challenges that we may not even be aware of today.  As parents, you play a vital role in nurturing innovation in your children. Encourage them to think critically, ask questions, and explore various perspectives.

The journey towards innovation often begins with curiosity, so an environment where curiosity is not only welcomed but celebrated is important.  Innovation is not always about immediate success; it's about learning from setbacks and iterating on ideas as you work toward improvement and growth. Learning this resilience will serve them well as they encounter new challenges throughout their lives.

In the classroom, our teachers are committed to creating an environment that fosters innovation. They strive to provide opportunities for hands-on learning, collaboration, and real-world applications of knowledge. As parents, your support is invaluable in reinforcing these concepts at home. Encourage your children to share their ideas, explore their passions, and engage in projects that allow them to apply their learning in meaningful ways.

By nurturing a mindset of creativity, resilience, and adaptability, we empower our children to thrive in a world that demands constant innovation. Together we can provide the support and encouragement needed to inspire the next generation.

Parent Involvement

As a community, we value parent involvement. Information is on AIMS (our new Learning Management System). I encourage you to volunteer where you can, encourage your children to participate in the wide variety of activities on offer and for you to attend and support College events.  The Parents and Friends Association is an active group of parents who commit to providing community events and fundraising activities that support your children.  These include the Parents and Friends Arts Scholarship and this year, arriving soon will be the Food/Coffee Van that the Parents and Friends purchased for use by themselves but could also potentially be used by groups such as Interact, Hospitality VCE VM and Year 9 Service Learning.

AIMS

Our new learning management system (LMS) was launched in Term 4 last year and we are now in the swing of using it. As with all new platforms, it will take time to adjust to new ways of doing things but the feedback has been very positive.  Parents are reminded that you should log into the platform regularly and set notifications as they are relevant to you.
