Junior School

Prep AA  1/2PB  1/2NP

Hello Families,

We have kicked off 2024 with a beautiful first three weeks in our newly painted buildings. Our classrooms are settled, and we have seen beautiful friendships flourish in such a short amount of time.

We have enjoyed coming together for Junior sport to play Octopus. In order to learn team sports, patience and getting to know other teachers and students in our building.

In the prep classroom, we have been settled and happy every day. I have seen such beautiful friendships arise and we have a culture of kindness and care in Prep AA.

These first three weeks we have been working on our routines, classroom expectations and setting ourselves up for success in the room.  Moving forward we will begin with our letter sounds in reading, exploring narrative texts in writing and starting with number formation in numeracy. I am beyond proud of Prep AA and cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

Below are our Prep Houses, On Fridays we can wear our house colours and as the term progresses, we will be enjoying more time spent in our houses to further build team spirit.

1/2 NP and 1/2PB

It has been an amazing start to the year and everyone has settled really well!

In reading, we have been exploring characters and their feelings. We have investigated how a character feels at the start of a story and how this can change as we get to the end of a story. In writing we have been thinking about the five senses to make our stories more exciting. In maths, we have been exploring the place value of two-digit and three-digit numbers. Students have been using MAB (place value blocks) to build numbers and show their understanding of the number values.

On Tuesday (13th), it was Pancake Day. Whilst enjoying some delicious pancakes we talked about how we can ‘flip’ our mindset to feel more positive. We came up with some great suggestions of activities that make us feel good.
