Last Wednesday evening our School Council approved the following Curriculum Days and one Teacher Professional Practice Day for 2025 . Students will not attend school on these dates but may be asked to attend three way parent teacher interviews if they are in the upper school.

Teacher Professional Practice Day 3rd Nov

The work undertaken on a PPD will be consistent with DET & School priorities and selected from the following areas: planning, preparation, assessment of student learning, collaboration, curriculum development, relevant professional development and peer observation including feedback and reflection.

Year 5 History Expo

The year 5 students have been doing a history unit on colonial Australia including the Gold Rush this term. The students have been working at home on dioramas to represent this part of our history. They have also been writing biographies in class about significant figures from this time period.

Other students researched prominent figures such as Burke and Wills, William Buckley, Simon Wonga, William Barak, Ned Kelly and gold mining from a Chinese perspective. Their diarama's were fantastic and they had obviously put in a tremendous amount of work on them. They were so knowledgeable and were able to articluate their research very well. Students from the other classes came to visit and left amazed and much wiser!

Year 5 Sovereign Hill Camp

The unit was supported by the students attending camp to Sovereign Hill where they consolidated their learning and had heaps of fun!

Many thanks to our teachers and especially our volunteers. Camps just can't go ahead without you.

Night of Music

What a spectacular event! Last Saturday evening 103 IPS children performed in the Night of Music concert held at Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School Performing Arts Centre. The concert was presented by the Heidelberg Orchestras and we are so grateful that they invite our school to participate each year. This year we took the Corelli Strings, Orchestra and a Choir that was specially put together for this event.

Many thanks to Margaret Butcher for organising this event and making it so successful and to her staff and volunteers.

School Saving Bonus

Important information about the school saving bonus

In Term 4, 2024, families with a child enrolled in a government school from Prep to Year 12 in 2025 will receive the one-off $400 School Saving Bonus.

The $400 School Saving Bonus provides families with support for education-related costs, such as school activities and/or school uniforms and textbooks.

The School Saving Bonus is not available for full-fee international students, home schooled students, TAFE students and students attending kindergarten in 2025.

Child safety and wellbeing at Ivanhoe Primary School: information for families and the school community

IPS is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.

Reminder: next week is is the last week of term 3. School will finish at 2:30pm on Friday. Our fabulous OSHC will be available from 2:30pm that day. Make sure you book in.
