Around The Primary

Dear Families

Each year we set time aside in our school calendar to honour and thank grandparents and special family members for all they do. We recognise the valuable role grandparents play in our student’s lives and love to see generations unite and enjoy time together.

This special event acknowledges the hard work, commitment, faith and love that grandparents sow into the lives of their grandchildren, often bringing and collecting from school, helping with homework, attending special events and even assisting in classrooms.

Our students were so excited to welcome their grandparents to school for our annual Grandparents’ Picnic Lunch. Delicious picnic food and pretty blankets were on display amongst the chatter and laughter coming from all corners of the library courtyard and surrounding areas. It was delightful to see the children spending time with their special loved ones at school.

Congratulations to students in String Orchestra, Mini Minors, Year 5 Band, Year 6 Band, Primary Singers and Wanju Voices for their entertaining performances.

Special mention to our Year 6 Leaders for being great ambassadors for the College and welcoming and assisting our visitors with care and kindness.

Thank you to all the grandparents who joined us this year and to everyone involved for helping to make grandparents day a memorable one!

Kind regards

Zoo News

Our Year 3 students hit the ground running this week, embarking on an exciting adventure to the Perth Zoo!

Our day began with an informative session putting into practise our scientific learning about living and non-living things in the environment and how they can be classified in different ways.  We then split off into small groups led by our parent volunteers. Together we conducted our own self-guided tours to the corners of the zoo we were most fascinated to learn more about. Our tours led us to be captivated by the gentle giants in the elephant exhibit and the fascinating creatures in nocturnal house that come alive after dark.

The Year 3 students had a magnificent day exploring some of our most endangered species. We demonstrated respect, teamwork, perseverance and positive mindsets to make this day an ultimate success! Special thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers and education assistants.

Sports News

Our Kindy, PP, Years 1 and 2 students have been busy preparing for the Junior Primary Athletics Carnival which takes place on Thursday 24 October on the Junior Primary Oval.  It is always such a fun and vibrant atmosphere, and our junior students love demonstrating the skills they have been learning.  It will be fantastic to see lots of families there to cheer them all on.

Our Years 5 and 6 students began their Alternate Sports Program this week.  Over 4 sessions the students will take part in dance, yoga, skipping and short golf to experience a range of different sports and physical activities to help broaden their scope about what sport and physical activity can look like.  It will also create an opportunity to discuss the importance of being physically active for both mental physical health.
