Captains' Corner

Georgia Johnston and Aurora Saffery, 2025 Creative Arts Captains

Last Thursday night, Years 9 to 11 Music and Drama students had the amazing opportunity to attend a performance of 'Wicked' at the QPAC Lyric Theatre. It was an incredibly enriching experience for the students, as we got to immerse ourselves in the world of musical theatre. We were absolutely blown away by the outstanding production quality, costumes, elaborate sets and not to mention the extraordinary cast.

A highlight of our experience was observing the performance techniques of the cast. The students were able to see firsthand how characters were brought to life through their expressions, body language, and timing. This was especially insightful for those interested in pursuing a career in the theatre industry as it showcased the importance of fully embodying a character to connect with the audience.

The vocals were another aspect that was exceptional! The powerful and emotive performance of the cast demonstrated advanced vocal techniques that the students could aspire to. We were very impressed by the range and control displayed by the lead actors, which highlighted the importance of vocal training, practice and dedication.

This experience was not only educational but also very entertaining. We were able to enjoy a fun night out with our fellow peers and friends to a performance which has undoubtedly left an impact, fuelling our passion for music and theatre!
