Literacy & Inquiry

This term the students of level 5 are using the Anh Do book, "The Little Refugee" as a mentor text for their literacy dyudies. This will see the chldren use this text to complete patternd writing activities and emotive language. The themes of resilience, hope and family are also strong within this book. Tying in well to this, we will use the Topic of refugees to cover outcomes in our Civics and Citizenship curriculum.

2025 School Leadership

This term we have built in the Term 3 ASPIRE Student Leadership program. The year 5 students are now focusing on People, Prophet and Planner leadership skills withing their own hopes for 2025 Year 6 Leadership positions. This will culminate in weeks 5 and 6 when students nominate for student leadership positions at SEPS in 2025. They will give leadership speeches in week 6 and students will use preferential voting to nominate their own leadership preferences. Staff will also view the speeches as will members of the School Council with all havinginput into the eventual selections.

Maths

In the start of Term 4, we are revisiting multiplication and division mental and written strategies. The class learning ensures students have a range of strategeies to solve both worded and digit equations, as well as being able to articulate their answers to peers and teachers. Also, students have begun working with prime and composite numbers, and multiples and factors of number up to 100. Students are enjoying using their whiteboards more frequently, being introduced to a new way of utilising the resource in a more engaging way.
