Victorian State School Spectacular 2024
At the end of Term 3, on Saturday 14th September, Kambrya College participated in the 2024 Victorian State School Spectacular. This event sees thousands of students from state schools around Victoria come together to put on a truly incredible performance in John Cain Arena. It’s a spectacle of music, dance, singing, circus, and so much talent, and each year never fails to wow the audiences.
This year, Kambrya College had groups performing in Mass Dance and Mass Choir, as well as two talented students who successfully auditioned to be part of the orchestra.
Joel Stangerlin (Trombone) and Nate Hughan (Drumkit) are two of our wonderful year 12 MDP students whose skill and professionalism we are very proud of. Their performances in this show were nothing short of spectacular, working alongside professionals and on such a large scale. To be selected from students across Victoria to play these parts is a no small feat and we congratulate them on this tremendous achievement.
Students in Mass Dance and Mass Choir were accompanied by Tiffaney Nish, Tahlia Leedekerken, and Amber Ferraro, and also pleased crowds with their performances.
A huge congratulations to everyone who was involved. It will be aired on Channel 7 on Saturday 14th December at 7pm and we encourage everyone to tune in and check out these wonderful performers.
Production: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Schools on Stage!
On Thursday the 12th September, some of our production cast members participated in Schools on Stage where we managed to take out the prize for Audience Choice for yet another year running! A huge thanks to all who came along to cheer us on, as well as, of course, anyone involved in production in any way. This award is a credit to the program we have built and the community support we have developed as a result. Big love and congratulations to all!
Production: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Lyrebird Nominations!
During our season of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last term, we were proud to open our production up to the Lyrebirds. This is a competition where various schools and theatre companies can have judges attend their performances, and sometimes nominate them for awards. This year, we had 3 external judges attend and, excitingly, we have received several nominations!
Congratulations to ALL students involved in production for being part of a show that was worthy of nominations, and especially to the individuals and teams involved! Please note, Kambrya College staff have nothing to do with who receives these nominations, it's all externals who have no context! There will be an awards ceremony later in the year where we will find out if we receive any awards, but for now, huge congrats on these nominations!

Arts Evening of Excellence 2024 – A brief congratulations for now – More info to come!
On Tuesday 22nd October, the Kambrya College Arts department was thrilled to present the Arts Evening of Excellence for 2024.
The gallery exhibition featured a range of works across years 7-12 from the subjects of Art, Visual Communication Design, and Media. Following this, there was a performance showcase in the theatre featuring selected works from Music, Drama, Dance, Media, MDP and Production. It’s a true highlight of our year to be able to share these works of excellence with the college community and to celebrate some of our many talented students across the arts.
There will be a more detailed write up in the next newsletter with photos and announcing the winners of our gallery competitions, but for now I didn’t want to miss the chance to congratulate all involved! A huge thank you to the Arts staff for their incredible dedication to all of our students and for making opportunities like this possible. Of course, a huge thank you also to our fabulous students.
We are so proud of you all, and look forward to celebrating even more works of art in the future. Keep your eyes peeled for the next newsletter article for more information!
