From the Deputy Principal

As it is the Year Twelve students' final week with us next week, there will be a few changes in uniform requirements for Week Two.

There will be a timetable swap between Wednesday and Thursday timetables, which is now reflected in SEQTA. This will allow for all students to be together for the Year Twelve's final House meeting. This will also mean that uniform requirements will be swapped. On Wednesday, students will now be required to dress in formal uniform and Thursday, students will be required to wear House uniform.

On Friday, we will celebrate the Year Twelves graduating at the Valedictory Ceremony. As this is a big event for the school, all students will be required to wear presentation uniform (covered legs) for this day.

Thank you

Mrs Emma Franklin | Deputy Principal

MSWA Albany Swim - Thank You Sundowner

We are very proud of our students' efforts to support many causes in the Albany community and are particularly pleased to provide long standing support to MSWA. Recently our School Captains, Maddie and Louis were invited to see, firsthand, how their fund-raising efforts have come to fruition.  Maddie shared her reflections:

In the second week of the holidays, Louis and I were invited to attend a sundowner for MSWA on behalf of the school. Held at the MSWA Centre in Spencer Park, we were given a tour of the facility and learnt about how the organisation supports patients across the region. The facility was built three years ago with community support and donations and currently has ten permanent residences.

Much of this funding was raised at the MSWA Swim, which GSG has participated in many times since its inception twelve years ago. The team of eleven for the swim this year raised over $2,000 for the cause, and the event will be running again in May next year.

Update on Ulster Road Lane Closure - Stage 6

Our authorised contractor, DM Civil, are ahead of the original work schedule to replace a wastewater pipeline under Ulster Road. This pipeline is an important part of Albany’s wastewater network and the work will reduce future leaks and breaks.

From Friday 11 October 2024 we will begin Stage 6 which will progress the lane closure along Ulster Road to the North Road roundabout. Work for this stage will continue until approximately early December 2024

What to expect in Stage 6:

  • A single northbound lane of Ulster Road will be closed from the North Road intersection roundabout to Bardley Road.
  • The southbound lane from Lower King and Bayonet Head to North Road will remain open with reduced speed limits.
  • A detour along Campbell Road and Bardley Road will be in place. Alternatively, you may exit Campbell Road and use Angove Road and Collingwood Road to continue to reduce traffic around the schools and hospital.
  • Access to properties and businesses will be maintained.
  • For the safety of our workers and the community, please follow all traffic signs and reduced speed limits.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this essential pipeline replacement. With your continued support, we can shape WA's water future together.
