This year, the Catholic Church is holding a Jubilee Year. The theme for this year’s jubilee is Pilgrims of Hope. A pilgrim is a person who is on a journey or pilgrimage for personal and spiritual growth. A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey to a holy place to honour God, give thanks, seek forgiveness and to share your hopes and dreams.
During Jubilee Years, we are encouraged to attend a holy place, one of the holy places listed for the Archdiocese of Melbourne is St Patrick’s Cathedral, which is our mother church in East Melbourne.
On Friday the 14th November, the St Michael’s School community will travel by train to visit and attend the 1.00 pm weekday Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
Details regarding this event will be shared with school families via Operoo.
October is designated as the Month of the Holy Rosary in the Catholic Church to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary and encourage the daily prayer of the Rosary. The Rosary was given to St. Dominic by the Virgin Mary as a spiritual tool to help in his mission to convert people, particularly during conflicts with heretics. The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary was instituted by Pope St. Pius V after the Christian forces' victory in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 against the Turkish fleet. The Pope believed the Rosary prayer contributed more to the victory than conventional weapons.

October is dedicated to 'collaboration between different religious traditions’.
Pope Leo XIV has asked the world to pray for dialogue, understanding and respect between the different religions in our diverse society.
Please try to find some quiet time in your busy day to pray Pope Leo's Prayer Intention for the month of October. Thank you
For collaboration between different religious traditions
Let us pray that believers in different religious traditions might work together to defend and promote peace, justice, and human fraternity.
Amen
