Visual Art

Foundation, grade 1 and 2 students have been making a wonderful mess in the Art room when playing and experimenting with collage this term. They had fun tearing up coloured tissue paper to re-arrange, layer, join and create their own personal collage pieces. Students expressed themselves beautifully through the colours they thoughtfully selected for their artwork. They’re now busy using their collage art pieces to build, model and construct their own three-dimensional sculptures. Stay tuned…
In Art this term grades 3-6 have been working on a collaborative project in response to the theme ‘Up in the Air’. Students have enjoyed the opportunity to explore the medium of CLAY, when modelling and sculping their three-dimensional creations.
Working with clay has supported children's development of fine motor skills, creativity, and problem-solving skills, as they investigate 3D form and texture. The tactile and sensory nature of clay also encourages focus and mindfulness. It’s been satisfying to see the children so engaged and immersed in the art making process while exploring the medium of clay this term.
