Footy and Sports Day – Friday 19th September

The AFL Grand Final will be held during the school holidays, so we have a special day planned for our students on the last day of Term 3 (Friday 19th September). On this day, students are encouraged to wear their AFL team or sporting colours. Students who don't follow an AFL team can wear another sport team’s colours.

During the day students will participate in football related activities. Our annual footy day will coincide with the Parent’s Group hot dog day.  What a great way to wrap up a term’s work with a hot dog footy themed lunch!

Please order your hot dogs and drinks through the Spriggy Schools.

Whilst we are on the football theme, the Montrose Football Club are looking for players for a brand new under 8/under10s girls’ team for next year. This is a fantastic opportunity for our younger girls to participate in a team sport, make new friends and learn new skills.  Please see the flyer attached in the Community Notices in this newsletter for more information.

Father’s Day

Thanks again to our wonderful Parent’s Group for their Father’s Day events last week.  A big thank you to Matt from Montrose Meats who supplied the meat tray for our lucky door prize.  Congratulations to the Milburn family who won the prize.

A big thankyou to Baker’s Delight in Kilsyth who provided the rolls. We’re so lucky at Billanook to have community partners to work with.

Year 3 Candlebark Camp – Healesville

The weather mostly held out to allow for a wonderful first camp experience for our Year 3 students this week.  The children participated in great activities such as the flying fox, archery and low ropes course. They were also fortunate to spend the day at Healesville Sanctuary on the way home on Thursday.

Year 3 camp is a big experience for most children as it’s their first school camp and for some children it’s their first time sleeping away from home. It’s always wonderful to see their developing independence as they try new foods, participate in different activities and sleep in a cabin with their friends.

Foundation Phonics Dress Up Day

We held our annual phonics dress up day earlier this week.  Our Foundation children and their teachers enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters from our daily Initial Lit systematic synthetic phonics approach.  The children have mastered all initial sounds and digraphs in the Foundation program so what better way to celebrate than a dress up day!

Parent’s Group – Music Trivia Night Saturday 11 October

Please see the flyer later in this newsletter in regard to the awesome Billanook Music Trivia Night. It’s great that we have families filling up the tables, but we still have plenty of spots available.

You can organise friends and fill a table yourselves or send through your details and a table can be found for you.  Please use the link below.
