Italian

Buongiorno!

Foundation had a busy period with Italian reviewing what they’ve learnt already and discovering new Italian vocabulary and culture.

We learnt about animals thanks to one of the most famous Italian songs called “Il coccodrillo come fa” learning how different they are from the Australian ones, discovering that Italians makes their sound in a different way than Australians.

We talked about family members, and discovered words as mamma, papa’, nonno, nonna, fratello e sorella and that helped us to review body parts thanks to Pinocchio.

Now we are learning and talking about Italian sport, it was a shock to discover that Italians never heard about AFL or netball before!

Grade 1 have been busy learning new Italian vocabularies and culture.

We had the opportunity of reviewing colours and learning new numbers. We are working on numbers from 11 to 100, thanks to a few activities on Euros. It was a shock for everyone to learn that Europeans have a 500 Euros note!

We reviewed body parts but this year we used them to create some Italian sentences to describe different creatures that every grade 1 child invented. We are now working on clothes.

Grade 2, 3 and 4 participated to some interesting activities working on clothes, describing outfits and having the opportunity to participate in a real fashion show with real clothes items which they wore to create the perfect outfit to show to their classmates.

We are now working on giving directions in a city using new terms such as: gira a destra/sinistra (turn right/left) and vai dritto (go straight).

By using a map which described what cannot be missed in an Italian city or town and challenging themselves to give directions to blindfolded classmates.
