Principal's Views

As we head into last week of term, we celebrate the fun events we’ve had, Year 2 dinner & disco, Book week, Year 1 dinner, R U OK day, Sports, Year 5 excursion.......

Today EVPS celebrated R U OK? Day, with the colour yellow seen all around the school as students and staff joined in the spirit of the day. A special canteen menu and a range of engaging activities gave students the chance to connect and reflect on the importance of looking out for one another. It was a wonderful way to raise awareness, and we look forward to featuring more about the day in our next newsletter.

Lunchtime Yoga

We have been very excited to trial a new club......Lunch Time Yoga.

Students from Year 2 & 3 had the opportunity to participate in a relaxing and mindful yoga class in the sensory room. A big thank you to Kim for using expertise to teach students about the importance of using the breath and the body to feel centred and present.

We look forward to expanding this opportunity to other year levels across the school in term 4.

Camping program

Term 3 is also a big term for our staged camping program events. This term we’ve already seen the Year 2 Dinner and Disco take place and next Thursday is our Year 1 Dinner.

Term 4 will see the Year 4 City Camp over two nights in October, with exciting visits to the Shrine of Remembrance, the Royal Botanical Gardens, the MCG, Polly Woodside, Federation Square and ACMI. The  Year 3 Adventure Day camp at Golden Valley will take place on the 28th October from 7am – 6:30pm.

Attendance

Our whole school attendance percentage is just under 90%, sitting a little above the same time last year. The attendance team, teachers and admin staff are providing supports to families that have low attendance and having meetings to implement action plans to improve attendance.  Attendance improvement is a network and statewide priority.

Parent Opinion Survey

We have received 38 responses to the parent opinion survey so far. It will be open until Friday 19th September. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we have encouraged all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

Thank you to the parents who have already completed the survey.

ARE YOU MOVING ON IN 2026?

We are now well and truly in the planning phase for 2026 and as such it is important that we have an accurate indication of our student numbers for next year.  If you are planning on relocating at the end of the year or leaving us for any other reasons, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can best support the transition of your child to another school setting. Use this link to let us know if you are moving schools in 2026.
