Principal's Report

Term 4 will be a busy and exciting period for our school. Alongside our usual events and programs, we will be preparing for major building works at the Senior Campus, scheduled to begin at the start of 2026.
As previously mentioned, this project presents a fantastic opportunity to upgrade and modernise our main school building. Stage 1 of the construction is expected to take at least 18 months and will involve renovations to nearly all areas and rooms in the main building - except for four classrooms located at the northern end (two on the ground floor and two directly above them), closest to the driveway. These four classrooms will be renovated at the completion of Stage 1.
The renovations will comprehensively update and improve key spaces, including all administrative areas, the library, classrooms, additional learning spaces, staff room and amenities. From the street, the exterior of the school will largely remain unchanged.
Some important upcoming developments to note:
- A new portable classroom will be delivered on Monday, 13th October. It will be craned into position next to our current Year 6 building, providing a total of six classrooms for our Year 5 and 6 students in 2026.
- In November, the MPC will be repurposed to accommodate two Year 4 (ready for the 2026 school year) classes and administration offices. Please note that Team Kids will relocate to the Junior Campus Hall from November for the duration of the construction.
- Installation of a PE equipment storage unit is already underway and is expected to be completed early Term 4.
School Disco
The School Disco was a fantastic highlight for our students last Friday night! Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our organisers and volunteers, the evening was a truly special and fun experience for our children. The Hall and surrounding spaces were buzzing with activity and excitement.
An event like this takes many hands to ensure everything runs smoothly, so a huge thank you to everyone who pitched in and helped out. A special thank you goes to the amazing Tania Shulman with support from Shaheen Khan, Sinem Ibrahim, Sim Skovron, Lex Edmunds, Nat Anker Cohen, Lainie Hanan, Kelly Krepak, Lisa Shiran, Mel Sput and Romy Same who led the Year 1 and Year 4 parents to make the entire event possible. The children had an absolute ball!
Overseeing it all – from the preparations to the clean-up – was our ever-smiling and tireless PFA President, Robyn Krawitz. Robyn, you are truly one in a million!
Footy Day
If you are free on Friday morning, come along and join us as we celebrate one of Melbourne’s traditions – Australian Rules Football. Students are asked to dress up in their footy gear or sports team colours. Students will participate in activities involving football skills at the beginning of the day. Thank you to the parents that are volunteering to help! After recess at 11:15am, the whole school will assemble under the Senior COLA and sing all the clubs’ songs. Parents are most welcome to join us!
GPS HERRRBY EXTRAVAGANZEA FAIR
