This week marks the end of the winter sports season, and we are excited to cheer on our Griffins teams as they compete in their grand finals. Reaching this stage is a wonderful achievement and a reflection of the commitment and hard work shown throughout the season.

Hockey Finals

It’s a huge weekend of hockey for our Griffins hockey players, with five teams competing for premiership glory! Come along, wear your Griffins colours, and show your support:

7/8/9 Girls v Spencer Park – Friday 19 September at 5.00pm
10/11/12 Girls v North Albany – Friday 19 September at 8.00pm
7/8/9 Boys Griffins Red v Griffins Blue – Saturday 20 September (all Griffins clash!) at 11.00am
Men’s B v Manypeaks – Saturday 20 September at 6.00pm

We are also delighted to recognise members of our wider Griffins hockey community who will be competing in the Women’s A Grade Finals this weekend.

Congratulations to Michelle Ericsson, Sarah Gallimore, Leah Field, students Grace Bessen, Jess Gatti, Fenella O’Neill, Evita Rumble, Poppy Ford (North Albany), and mother–daughter duos Alexandra & Olivia Riggall, and Donna & Katelin Woithe (Mount Barker).

Soccer Cup Round

Our Griffins soccer players have enjoyed a brilliant season, and the final round is bringing even more excitement.

Women’s Socials Cup Grand Final – Made up of Primary School staff, Senior Secondary School students, and mums of players, this team has thrived under the guidance of teacher, Mr Stephen Berryman. They now head into the Cup Grand Final on Friday 19 September at 6.15pm (Pitch C3). To top it off, they also finished first on the League table in their division!

Netball Update

Our Griffins netballers came so close to a grand final spot this year! It was a fantastic season full of effort and teamwork, and we are already looking forward to coming back even stronger next year.

Finals Message from the Chair of Griffins

We are at the pointy end of finals across our winter sports. You have done great things to get this far, congratulations! To everyone involved with a game whether playing or spectating; remember to win gracefully and lose respectfully. Be a good sport, on and off the field. Cheer your hearts out and promote positive behaviour. For the adults amongst us, if there’s a need to guide the (Griffins) young people around us to support and cheer the Griffins way, please do so.

Griffins Basketball Update

With basketball season just around the corner, registrations need to be completed on PlayHQ.

Everyone has now been placed in a team and you will have received an email from our Basketball Registrar with your team specific registration link. Please ensure these are completed by Monday 22 September.

For any families wishing to utilise Kidsport funding, the link can be found in the registration email and will need to be completed prior to completing the registration process on PlayHQ.

Your team manager should have reached out or be in contact soon with an invitation for Heja, our games/training communication platform.

If you missed the cutoff for uniform orders, the Uniform Shop has a small selection of shorts. This year we are encouraging players to fully embrace the Griffins spirit by encouraging players to wear Griffins Socks. They are available for only $5 a pair, at the GSG uniform shop.

Please reach out to any players not attending GSG, to facilitate the purchase for them.

Griffins Winter Sports Wind-Up – this Sunday

The Griffins Winter Sports Wind-Up will be held this Sunday 21 September in the Multi-Purpose Sport Complex.

We look forward to celebrating another fantastic season together! The day will follow the same fun format as last year, with plenty of games, awards, and an opportunity to recognise the achievements of our players, coaches, and volunteers. Team managers will share further details with you directly.

Schedule:

⚽ Soccer: 11.00am to 1.00pm
🏐 Netball: 1.20pm to 3.30pm
🏑 Hockey: 4.00pm to 6.00pm

Griffins Merchandise and Uniforms

Players can order the Griffins training gear and supporter merchandise from the Griffins site Shop - Great Southern Griffins. A range of hoodies, tops, pants and accessories are available to buy. There are limited stocks of hoodies, but more will be added at the end of the month.
