Exciting Playground Upgrades Coming Soon! 

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news, Rosanna Golf Links Primary School is getting not one, but two major playground upgrades!

Over the nine months, we’ve been working behind the scenes to plan improvements to two key play areas: the Rainbow Playground and the area near the existing Spider Climbing Frame. 

Rainbow Playground Upgrade

The newer section of the Rainbow Playground will remain but will receive a fresh coat of paint. The older, blue-painted timber section, however, has reached the end of its life and will be decommissioned and replaced with brand-new equipment. This new section will flow on seamlessly from the existing Rainbow Playground and include additional turn bars, something many of our students have requested.

Spider Replacement

Originally, we had planned to replace the climbing frame near the Spider with a like-for-like structure. However, after some thought, we saw an opportunity to rethink and completely redesign this under-utilised space. The aging Spider frame will be removed and replaced with a bigger and more modern climbing frame, along with a double-cube climbing apparatus, giving students more variety and challenge.

Student input has played a key role in shaping these upgrades. During consultations, students told us they loved the Spider because it was fun to climb and challenging, qualities we’ve kept front and centre in the new design.  Our Junior School Council also shared how much they love the monkey bars, want more opportunities for balancing, and were especially keen on turn bars. We’re excited to say that all these elements are included in the final design!

As the planning progressed, the scope of the project expanded well beyond our original vision. This involved us applying for a North East Community Fund Grant to support the expanded project. We’re excited to share that we were successful, receiving $75,000 to go towards the upgrades. A big thank you to Tiffany Meiliunas for all her effort securing this grant and to the North East Link Program's North East Community Fund for supporting our school and helping us bring this exciting new playground to life.

We’re now in the final planning stages, working with our chosen vendor to confirm timelines, site access, and logistics.
